Purple Romantic Strathmore MD Wedding by Amber Kay Photography
How amazing is this purple confection by Merry Cakes?? We love the soft pastel color that accented Julia and Jason’s purple mmbre wedding story, alongside the lace fondant appliques placed throughout.

Rustic Woodlawn Manor Wedding by Birds of a Feather Photo
One huge trend in wedding cakes in 2016 was naked cakes that consisted of cakes that were either without exterior icing or had very little smeared across, “peek a boo” style. We love the mixture of fresh seasonal berries and pink icing in this choice from Wildewood Pastry Shop.

Fathom Gallery DC Wedding by Red October Photography
Perfect for the modern reception space of Fathom Gallery in DC, we loved the hints of blue on the sleek modern Buttercream Bakeshop two tiered cake. Accented with one large peony bloom, we were wowed by the simplicity and modern feel of their blue and gold wedding cake!

Fall Virginia Morais Vineyard Wedding by Genevieve Leiper Photography
Glam meets rustic elegance perfectly combined to make this gilded confection by The Icing Cakes. We chose this cake for not only the rich gold accents but the use of varying shapes throughout each layer which created depth and layers!

South Asian Virginia Wedding by Greg Gibson
Mic Drop. This cake by Maliha Creations is a stunner and needs no other explanation!

DC Ritz Carlton Same Sex Wedding by Chris Ferenzi
The pastry Chef at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown wove Rick and John’s purple brunch color story into their cake was dozens of intricately painted sugar orchids. Delicately placed, we love the use of light to dark ombre tones that run the length of the accents.

Virginia Patriotic Wedding Inspiration by Rafa Cruz Photography
Catherine George Cakes created a unique patriotic cake that can be incorporated into any holiday wedding or party. We love the red and blue sugar flowers against the shimmery gold middle tier of this fun dessert!

DC Blue Decatur House Wedding by Connor Studios
Last but not least, we absolutely fell in love with Ron and Jon’s ruffled meets ombre wedding cake by Fluffy Thoughts Cakes. It is such a unique texture and the coloring was the perfect accent to their blue traditionally elegant tented wedding!
