Hello DC area! We might have had snow earlier this week, but we are all thinking spring around here! Check out this gorgeous engagement session showcasing the best of what the city as to offer. With the monuments as their backdrop, Annie and Tony had a simply breathtaking engagement photo session with Marcella Treybig photography. Flowers and trees were in full bloom while they posed at the Jefferson Memorial and in the surrounding gardens around the monuments.
Congratulations Annie and Tony!

We adore engagement shoots that take place on The National Mall. It’s a place completely unlike any other and totally unique to our city. And what could be more iconic than the DC monuments? Not to mention it’s a stunning backdrop! These two also picked some really fantastic outfits for their shoot. Talk about engagement attire goals! Chris proposed to Grace on a beach while the pair were on vacation in Panama. They were on an island off the coast of Panama City called Bocas del Toro. It sounds so magical! Unfortunately Chris got Dengue fever the last day of their trip and had to be hospitalized when they got back to NYC… A not so magical end to their engagement trip but definitely an eventful story! Thank you to Nicki Metcalf for sharing this beautiful National Mall engagement session with us today.

Kathryn and Domingo have one of the cutest DC engagement sessions we’ve seen all year. Maybe that is because they had their adorable pup, Holly, tagging along. We’re suckers for a cute dog and a National Mall engagement session! Their photographer, Megan of Megan Rei Photography, was prepared with a pocket full of treats and a squeaky tennis ball to keep Holly’s attention; how else would they have gotten those adorable shots of her looking right at the camera? And we think even the ones where she is totally distracted are pretty great too!
Kathryn is actually the one who proposed to Domingo, and she did it in front of the Reflecting Pool. So it was extra special that they came back to this spot for their engagement photos! Keep reading to find how just how Kathryn popped the question. Thank you to their photographer Megan for sharing this adorable puppy love DC engagement session with us today!
Tell us about the proposal. Domingo was taking too long and I decided I am a woman in the 21st century, I’m done waiting and I’m just going to ask him! So I got him a ring and for our 7 year anniversary, I treated him to Martin’s Tavern and reserved the booth where JFK proposed to Jackie Kennedy. Afterwards, we went down to the Lincoln memorial and I got down on one knee. I popped the question in front of the reflecting pool, and he said yes! Also I asked my friend to get a photo so she was there, hiding in a hoodie so he wouldn’t recognize her!

Meredith and Julian first met on an online dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. Days later they had their first date on a frosty winter’s night in Washington D.C. After a few years of dating and trips around the world, Julian popped the question while the two were in Ireland. Julian and Meredith were on vacation with Meredith’s best friend and her husband. They knew about the pending proposal, and knew Julian was waiting for the perfect moment during the trip.
They ended up visiting the Balarney Castle late one day. The sun just happened to come out right as they were leaving. At that moment Meredith’s best friend turned and said “the weather is perfect right now!” giving Julian the nudge that this would be best time to propose and suggested they take a picture in front of the castle. Just as they were getting into position Julian dropped down on one knee and popped the question. After a long 6 minutes of crying, laughing, and “totally freaking out,” Meredith said “yes.”
They held their DC engagement session in various spots around the city. Between the cute coffee shop, the classic DC monuments and the tidal basin, they covered all their basis! Have you seen more perfect spots for DC engagement photos? Thank you to Andrea Rodway Photography for sharing this session with us today.

We are so in love with all of the unique elements in today’s sunrise DC Cherry Blossom engagement session. Jon Fleming Photography captured not only the love of Brandon and Nhi, but other iconic DC details as well. From the backdrop of some of DC’s finest monuments to the Cherry Blossom trees, these are truly quintessential DC engagement photos! Don’t miss the bride’s killer style. With her purple tipped hair, lace crop top, and fabulous tulle skirt, we were in love. And just look at the couple’s sweet pup! Her flower crown is the perfect cherry on top and nothing says sweet blossoms like a floral pink crown! Thank you to Jon Fleming Photography for sharing this sweet DC engagement session with us to wrap another great week.
Ashley and Will met at orientation on the first day of work in federal IT sales. At first they joked about how he went to Virginia Tech and she went to UVA undergrad, which are rival schools, and a friendship began. Months later, they were going on lunch dates. Eventually, he officially asked her to be his girlfriend. The pair still works at that same company they met at four years later. If you think that was cute, their proposal story and their DC engagement session are even cuter!
On a drizzling Saturday morning in late May, Ashley woke up late for her planned hike with Will. Because of the dreary weather, she wanted to crawl back into bed. Will wasn’t having it. He insisted that they go to the Maryland side of Great Falls Park to spend the day outside with their black lab. She finally caved and the three of them headed up to Maryland for the day. Will with a GoPro in hand. At the time, Ashley thought nothing of since it was his Christmas gift from her. She was happy he was using the GoPro to take photos of scenery. Along the way, he seemed concerned about trail closures and kept asking different park employees if any of the trails were closed due to rain that day. Little did Ashley know, he was doing so because he was worried that the trail he had used as a dry run for the proposal was closed. Luckily, it was not!
Once they got to his predetermined spot on the trail, Will asked Ashley to check their dog’s tag since they were moving apartments. He said he wanted to make sure the address was correct. Instead of their new address, the dog tag said “Will you marry me?” Will got down on one knee and Ashley, of course, said yes! The entire proposal was captured on the GoPro, which was strapped to Will’s chest. Could there be a more perfect proposal story?! For their DC engagement session, Ashley and Will chose to take a tour of some of the best monuments that DC has to offer! From the Washington Monument to the Jefferson Memorial, the pair walked the Mall with their photographer Kir Tuben. They even managed a quick wardrobe change! Thank you to Kir Tuben for sharing these quintessential DC monuments engagement photos with us today.

Caitlin and Jackson met the day after they moved into their freshman dorms at Virginia Tech at a party with mutual friends. The two quickly became best friends and (finally!) started dating three years later. Cana winery is one of their favorite places to go together so when Jackson was going to propose he knew that would be the ideal location. After returning from vacation in Spain, Jackson and Caitlin went to visit Cana with Caitlin’s Mom, sister, stepdad, and dog. They spent the day enjoying wine and snacks, and after a while decided to take a walk down by the vineyards with our dog. As they paused to take a look at the scenery, Jackson dropped to one knee and popped the question!
Their wedding is set for this November at Cana. Jackson really wanted to wear his tuxedo for the wedding but since it’s at an outdoor winery, they decided to get glamorous for an elegant engagement session at the monuments instead! Their photo shoot with Maddy Williams Photography began at the Jefferson Memorial. It then took them to the Lincoln Memorial and the DC War Memorial. We love this tour of the Mall! Thank you to ARJ Productions for sharing this black tie engagement session with us via Matchology!

Ariel and Steven met by happenstance when they lived the in same apartment. They were separated by just two floors! Throughout their courtship the two traveled. They took a vacation to Switzerland last year that would change their lives forever. Staying at an adorable AirBnB, Steven knew he wanted to make Ariel his fire. In the most intimate setting in front of their roaring fireplace he proposed that they get married! Fast forward a few months and the pair were part of a beautiful dc landmarks engagement session.
During their wedding planning journey the pair found Marlayna Photography and they decided to take a tour for their DC landmarks engagement session. Stopping first at the Potomac waterfront followed by the historic Canals, they found the best spots for their Georgetown engagement session! We love when couples change up their engagement outfit inspiration, and with a switch from neutrals to a pop of berry, Ariel and Steven rounded out their day at the grand DC monuments. Thank you to Marlayna Photography for sharing this inspired DC landmarks engagement session with us today!

That super early wake up call may be slightly annoying, but is there anything better than sunrise engagement photos? Today’s are no exception! This sunrise DC monument engagement session by Steven and Lily Photography is stunning! Priya and Andrew met during their freshman year of college at GWU and lived in Foggy Bottom for 7 years until recently moving to Philadelphia. Despite their move, they have an undying love for this beautiful city. Living a few blocks away from the monuments during their time downtown, they frequently took midnight strolls to the monuments. They would walk down Constitution to the Lincoln Memorial often, and even saw their first shooting star one night by the monument. In addition, they would also have memorable picnics on the lawn in front of the Washington Monument. Because of all of their memories, taking their engagement photos in the place where they had walked so many times before was so sentimental and special for the two of them. Thank you so much to Priya for sharing their beautiful DC monument engagement photos with us today!
