Pastel Garden Inspired Leesburg Wedding
January 8, 2018

Anyone else completely and utterly ready for summer yet? I am thankful we have beautiful spring DC weddings to gawk over and distract us from these freezing temperatures outside! Today brings a pastel hued garden-esque Thomas Birkby House wedding in the heart of Leesburg, Virginia. Combine the remarkable talents of the OG of floral design, Holly Chapple Flowers with Alicia Lacey Photography’s ethereal images and we promise you will want to pin all of this to your wedding inspiration boards!

According to Alicia, the couple were a ball of nerves the morning of the wedding; they were so anxious to see each other for their First Look in the gardens! However, the moment Will turned and saw his bride Kristine, you can see anxiety melt always, leaving pure joy and excitement. Joined by their adorable fur baby Cleo, the couple finished portraits then so they were able to be present during the remainder of the wedding day festivities. We adore the soft blush color story in their textured florals; from the outdoor ceremony arbor to the dinner plate dahlias on the reception tables, it came together perfectly.  Thank you to Kristine and Will alongside Alicia Lacey Photography, for sharing their romantic Leesburg Virginia wedding. Come back all week for continued beautiful DC real weddings!

Breathtaking Omni Shoreham Wedding
September 25, 2017

Welcome to another wonderful week of DC wedding inspiration. We are excited to kick off with an absolutely beautiful traditional church ceremony and Omni Shoreham reception by Hannah Hudson Photography. Daniel and Christie hosted their friends and family in a breathtaking fall wedding with the most epic florals! Starting the day with her attendants in the Omni Shoreham’s bridal suite, we love how Christie chose classic and tailored fashion and beauty for their look. The bride took a modern twist on the classic chignon hair style, which paired perfectly with her sleek lace two piece bridal gown. Daniel opted for a traditional black tuxedo for him and his groomsmen. In addition, these were accented by fresh white floral boutonnieres.

Using a color story of white textured florals and greenery, Holly Chapple Flowers built the most beautiful floral story from the bride and maids bouquets to the towering ballroom centerpieces. Each element is timeless and classic, and perfectly partners with the grand DC hotel wedding venue! Thank you Hannah Hudson Photography for sharing a look into this romantic Omni Shoreham wedding. Check back later this week for even more lovely DC real weddings and fall wedding inspiration!

City Chic Oasis DC Newseum Wedding
March 28, 2017

Mackenzie and Mike met the old fashioned way – at church! Once engaged, Mackenzie immediately started planning a classic, Grace Kelly-inspired fete. The two knew that they wanted to get married at the LDS Temple in Kensington Maryland. Because the temple is a sacred space without photography allowed, they then chose to have a ring ceremony at the Newseum in DC in front of a beautiful paper flower wall dreamed up by one of our favorite vendors, Bellwether Events! Following the ceremony was a welcome reception on the terrace with hors d’oeuvres and vibrant mocktails. Dinner was a seated affair that was followed by a night of dancing and an amazing streamer send off to cap off this chic and modern Newseum wedding!

We thought their escort card display was absolutely to die for! They started with simple gold picture frames – an easy to DIY piece – and added some of Holly Chapple Flowers‘ amazing floral pieces to create a unique and chic display. We also love the way the couple utilized warm uplighting to bring a rich and vibrant tone to the whole affair while tying in the texture and colors of the flowers. Another one of our favorite elements of this grand Newseum wedding were the delicious favors handed out at the end of the night. Guests were given caramel apples as a parting gift and we are so sorry we missed out! They look to die for. Thank you to Michelle Lindsay Photography for sharing this beautiful and rich City Chic Oasis DC Wedding with us today!

Feathers and Jewel Toned DC Wedding
February 22, 2017

Because Jordyn and Max chose a February wedding date, they let that direct their design aesthetic for their Four Seasons Georgetown wedding. They pulled in which tones of burgundy, plum, and gold to evoke a lively yet slightly warm wintery vibe. The addition of the pheasant feathers also inspired the couple’s design choices as they added them into their various florals and menu cards. This touch made their wedding especially unique! Not only do we heart their amazing color palette and and design choices, but we also can’t get over the small details. Just look at the amazing items they incorporated into their tablescape and decor. The textured base-plates and laser cut name cards are absolutely amazing! We love when couples opt for items like these; they really elevate the design of the whole day and are sure to impress the guests.

We also love that, instead of a traditional guest book, they opted to have guests write wisdom and wishes to place in wooden boxes that housed wine bottles. These three bottles were all labeled to be opened on different anniversaries down the line. This is such a cool idea that extends their wedding day for years to come and allows their guests to be  a part of it. Thank you to Kelley Cannon Events for sharing this amazing local DC wedding with us!

Pretty in Pink DC Skyline Wedding
February 20, 2017

When speaking about their wedding theme, Christine and Dan say wanted to embrace “D&C in DC,” a fantastic play on their first names. We thought this was clever and were intrigued to find out how they would incorporate this wonderful city into their day. As neither the bride nor the groom’s families are from the idea, their DC nuptials turned into a destination wedding of sorts. Obviously, they wanted to show their loved ones their home, and we don’t think there is better venue for this than 101 Constitution, which hosts a stunning view of the Capitol building. We love the tented rooftop design that they dreamed up with their planning team at A. Dominick Events.

With a preppy yet classic vibe, complete with pops of navy and bright pink, these two celebrated in style on a stunning spring day. The end result was a wedding that felt like “them” with amazing food (people were talking about the corn soufflé and mini donuts for days), a great band, and some stunning photos. We are especially in love with the amazing floral design from Holly Chapple Flowers. From the wreaths on the church doors that later hung on the couple’s chairs to the amazing bridal bouquets and centerpieces, we couldn’t get enough of the fluffy, textured pink flowers. Also, don’t miss the amazing furniture selection that they had for guest to enjoy. How comfy does that little sitting area look? And with that view? We could sit there for days! Thank you to A. Dominick Events for sharing this “pretty in pink” wedding with us today!

Joyous Ritz Carlton Virginia Wedding
February 8, 2017

There are three words that came to mind when we saw this Tyson’s Ritz Carlton wedding: crisp, clean, and classic. From the stunning bride in her white fitted gown to the pale pink, cream, and light apricot color scheme, we feel like we’re floating on air with this wedding. And is there anything better than the look on the groom’s face when he first saw his bride? We are swooning over this moment, captured by their photographer, UWL favorite, Eli Turner!

Meredith and Drew chose to have both tall and low floral centerpieces at their reception; we always think this is a fantastic idea when planning your floral design and with blooms from Holly Chapple Flowers, you can do no wrong. For the tall centerpieces, the gold stands warmed the light color palette and the varying shapes and sizes of the clustered low centerpieces added texture to go along with the mirrored plates that they rested on. Also, don’t miss out on that stunning five tier cake. We adore how they alternated the texture on the tiers and added in a few flowers for pops of light color! Thank you to Engaging Affairs for sharing this glamorous Ritz Carlton wedding with us today!

Garden Oasis Wedding Film: Lisa + Bryan
September 9, 2016

As a DC wedding planner in my other life, I often am part of some of the most special and intimate moments during a couple’s wedding day. Because of this, I love videographers so much as they capture those moments that a couple can look back on forever. Every time I watch a wedding film I am reminded of how amazing the love between a couple can be on their wedding day and often I am brought to tears from the sheer joy of it all! Today we are excited to share Lisa and Bryan’s beautiful wedding film from Bowen Films. They refused to let a little rain dampen their day, but instead moved their garden oasis decor inside for a romantic and intimate ceremony under a clear top Sugarplum Tent. Lisa radiates love and joy throughout, and we wish the couple all the happiness in the world as they continue into married life! Thank you to Bowen Films for sharing this beautiful DC area wedding video!
