Classic Catholic University Wedding in DC
November 16, 2020

We have such a ethereal wintery Catholic University wedding today to share! Amy and Zach both went to Catholic University and were in the same friend group throughout most of college. When they graduated, Amy stayed in DC to start teaching while Zach joined the Peace Corp and lived in Madagascar for two years. They stayed in touch by liking random Facebook posts and keeping up with each other on Instagram. In 2016, Zach moved back to DC and they ran into one another at Catholic’s homecoming where they found out they were both teaching in DC Public Schools. A few weeks later, Amy ended up leading a training for Zach’s teacher training program. Following after the training; Amy invited Zach to her Halloween party the next day. Zach came to the party and the rest is history!
Their wedding day was the perfect infusion of DC, teachers, Taylor Swift, and love. Through gorgeous details executed flawlessly by Alexandra Nesterak and her team, the wedding day screamed Amy and Zach. It showcased all they have in common along with some of their differences (one’s a Cowboys fan, one’s a Patriots fan, yet they still love one another). The wedding color palette was gray and navy and included some blush and green accents. To guide guests to their tables, an awesome DC seating chart map had guests sitting in different neighborhoods. The reception featured a canopy of twinkly lights, striped linens, candle lit tables, and lots of dancing. Happy tears and laughter accompanied three excellent speeches by the father of the bride, the maid of honor, and the best man. Timber Pizza Co. grilled pizza outside the reception space and kept everyone’s stomachs full! Thank you so much to Nikki Schell Photography for sharing this classic Catholic University wedding with us today!

Gibson Island Engagement Session
May 10, 2019

Today’s Gibson Island engagement session is just too cute! Not only is it a fantastic backdrop for photos, but it is also the spot these two lovebirds will tie the knot in a summer wedding with A. Dominick Events. Will and Caroline met handing out candy on Halloween in 2016, thanks to the wonderful matchmaking skills of Will’s sister and her best friend. The two had been talking about setting them up for years, and finally decided to make it happen. The night went smoothly, and at the end of the evening, Will called an Uber to drop Caroline home. He purposefully took the long way back to DC to have the chance to talk to her a little longer. He snagged her number and asked her to dinner the following week.

Fast-forward to July 2018, Will and Caroline traveled out to San Francisco. They were planning to visit his sister and brother-in-law over July 4 and spend an evening away in Napa Valley. Will planned to propose on their first stop, Stags’ Leap Vineyard. On the drive over, Caroline was not paying attention to the directions and they got lost. Caroline noticed her navigation error seemed to fluster Will more than usual, but did not think anything of it because they made it just in time. After the tour concluded, Will suggested that they walk around the vineyard, and because grapes are Caroline’s favorite food, she excitingly agreed. Right as they reached the outskirts of the vineyard, Will got down on one knee and proposed! To top off day, they went to Thomas Keller’s restaurant, Ad Hoc, and were seated right near Jimmy Kimmel. How fun is that?!

Tented Virginia Home Wedding
October 3, 2018

They say home is where the heart is. For Laura and Joe, married on a beautiful September afternoon, this couldn’t be more true. After growing up in the Northern Virginia area, Laura found herself on the West Coast. While there she met and fell in love with Joe at a friend’s Halloween Party. She went as a giraffe and Joe was a penguin with a bow tie. Can you spot the nod to their meet cute in the details of their tented Virginia home wedding? It made for an adorable and unique cake topper!

When the time came to propose, Joe waited until the couple was back at Laura’s childhood home in Vienna, Virginia. He took her on a walk out to the woods behind the house, knelt down and proposed. Less than a year later, the engaged couple once again found themselves in Northern Virginia at Laura’s childhood home, this time to say “I Do.” Northern Virginia is an idyllic location to get married in, especially in the early fall. Laura and Joe utilized so many beautiful and natural elements around the house to create a unique, one-of-a-kind and personalized experience for their fall wedding.

The wedding ceremony took place on the front lawn of the house under an abundant floral archway. Cocktails were hosted on the front lawn as well before the guests were escorted down to the clear top tent next to the pool. Following dinner, dancing took place al fresco under the stars and by the glowing light of the tent and pool. It was a magical evening, made even more enchanted by Laura’s gorgeous embroidered wedding dress from designer Rue De Seine Bridal.  She paired her gown so perfectly with white ankle boots to give a more rustic flair to the outfit. Thank you to Michelle Lindsay Photography for sharing this Virginia wedding with us today!
