We hope you all had a wonderful week and if you are recently engaged and found us on United with Love, welcome! We have so many great resources including DC wedding budget tips and wedding engagement advice from some of our favorite DC wedding vendors!
Well we can say one things for sure; Mother Nature has a sense of humor, doesn’t she? While we are trying to enjoy a few moments of warmer weather we are sharing a fun urban Georgetown DC engagement session today by An Endless Pursuit Photography. Ann and Mike met in Glover Park while watching football with friends. The two shared mutual work acquaintances and so Mike took to introduce himself and the rest was history. Three years later, after many adventures together and a rescued City Dog named Patches, they ventured out early summer to their happy place in Colorado for some hiking and relaxation. Mike proposed on the Spruce Creek Trail with snow still on the ground but sunshine and 70-degree weather. Man, can’t we have that all the time?!
The couple ventured through Georgetown for their engagement session. We love the unique perspective of their shoot from the traditional canals and cobblestones to the more modern urban landscapes. The happy couple are planning a small Spring Napa wedding; we wish them all the joy in their new married life! Thank you to An Endless Pursuit for sharing this Georgetown DC engagement session with us today!
Did you see the fun and easy DIY wedding ideas we rounded up yesterday? I really love the idea of a personal and meaningful wedding and DIY projects such as family photo hoops bring just that to your special day! Today’s beautiful Westin Georgetown wedding will leave you longing for springtime florals and romantic outdoor ceremonies. Tina and Gareth were married in a beautiful classic wedding at the Georgetown Westin, in a garden terrace with a beautiful fountain backdrop!
The design of the day has a classic style with soft touches of lavender and hints of gold and peach. It felt like the perfect style for a June wedding in the city and felt elegant and relaxed with just enough of a fancy hint of style. Colorful weddings come in all types, and we are particularly drawn to the hues woven throughout their day. Following their exchange of personalized vows, the couple moved into the ballrooms of the hotel where guests noshed and danced the night away.
One of our favorite details of the reception was the textured buttercream wedding cake by Fluffy Thoughts. We know their cakes taste as delicious as they look, and by the look of the scroll work and fresh florals they kept the classic style of the wedding running throughout the entire design! Thank you to Kirsten Marie Photography for sharing the romantic day with us!

Christine and Dan wanted a quintessential DC engagement session but they also wanted a manicured garden feel. When Christine found Tudor Place online, she knew she had found the perfect location! The stylish pair met up with Lissa Ryan Photography on an unseasonably summery day in late fall. They all had the most wonderful time wandering through the beautiful grounds of this historic mansion hidden away in Georgetown; it’s like a piece of Europe hidden in our very own city. What a cute Georgetown engagement session!
Christine’s bright red dress provided the perfect counterpoint to the golden sunshine and lush foliage of the gardens. Their photographer said that these two have such a sweet, thoughtful love. It made them an absolute joy to photograph. We can totally see it! These two are adorable. The pair will wed this August in DC; we wish them both years of happiness! Thank you Lissa Ryan Photography for sharing this sweet Georgetown engagement session with us today!

Happy Friday and Happy St. Patricks Day! We love any excuse for a little celebratin’! These two cuties met at Georgetown University, where they were both studying to be health care professionals. Because of this, it is so fitting that they chose to showcase this beautiful place in their engagement photos. One of their first dates was even at Saxby’s, the coffee shop featured in their Georgetown engagement session! We love when people weave the background into their DC wedding or engagement photos. It just adds a little personalization to the whole thing!

Although these two can’t always agree on what counted as their “first date,” their love was one that blossomed out of friendship. Because they are a love of cooking, restaurants, and starting every day with a good cup of coffee, we love that their engagement story ends with a to-go coffee cup containing the engagement ring and a super sweet note that said “I want to wake up next to you every day for the rest of my life.” What we love even more is that Jen asked “where is my coffee?” before saying “YES!” What came next was today’s stunning Georgetown wedding! Thank you to Kaitlin at Cheers Darling Events for sharing this wedding with us today!
There are so many elements of Jen and Michael’s big day that we fell in love with. We absolutely heart the personal items that these two chose to incorporate into their DC wedding day; they are unique and just so sweet! From the lace from Jen’s mother’s wedding dress that was sewn into her own, to the note and handkerchief from her mother that had been passed down from her grandmother’s wedding day in 1974, we are getting teary eyed just thinking about this day. Jen also gave Michael a pair of cuff links, which is a family tradition. The cuff links are designed as the calendar month of the wedding, with a diamond chip on the wedding date. As if that wasn’t enough, one of our favorite special touches was that Jen and Michael got married in their grandparents (his maternal grandfather’s and her maternal grandmother’s) wedding rings.

The Georgetown canals are the perfect place to have an engagement session; when it ends with macarons, you have a match made in heaven. Speaking of a match made in heaven, aren’t these two lovebirds super cute? Along with their photographer, Jessica Burdge Photography, they strolled along the canal for some shots during their spring Georgetown engagement session. After beginning their day at the Old Stone House, they eventually ended up at the delicious Olivia Macaron. The bride-to-be loves all things Paris, so this was the perfect spot for a sip of coffee and people watching.
Brandi and Mike knew that they wanted their DC wedding ceremony to be held in early May, and they planned alongside Deb Lindsey Photography to set a perfect plan. As everyone remembers, this spring was filled with non stop rain showers but the couple lucked into a small window of brilliant sun before the return of torrential downpours for their intimate elopement ceremony. The couple left it up to their DC area photographer to find them a spot for the ceremony and after a quick scouting of the area, it brought them to the Georgetown canals. Their ceremony was filled with tears and laughs and a small audience who respectfully kept their distance. We love that the couple wrote their own vows and they appeared so joyful when it was pronounced that they were officially married. Often it is easy to forget the real meaning of the wedding day, the joining of two people and today’s Georgetown Elopement joyfully reminded us of how wonderful the ceremony can be! Congratulations to the newlyweds and thank you to Deb Lindsey Photography for sharing it with us!

We always love sharing some of our favorite wedding venues with our readers and this one does not disappoint. The Westin in Georgetown is a fantastic and versatile space with both indoor and outdoor capabilities. We asked them to share one of their favorite weddings from last year and we think what they came up with is stunning. The guest rooms were perfectly light airy for getting ready shots, while the outdoor space lent itself well to the creativity of the photographer, Connor Studios. The outdoor architecture created a beautiful and unique backdrop for the couple’s vows.
Post ceremony, the couple and their guests moved inside for a seated dinner in The Promenade, the Westin’s main stage for weddings. We love this room for wedding receptions because it can be styled in so many different ways! The couple chose rich reds, creams, and gold accents that worked incredibly well in the space with uplighting on the columns and splashes of candlelight on every surface. After the light and airy ceremony outside, the move into The Promenade had such a regal feel that we can’t get enough!
We love that the couple used the space at the Westin to fit their aesthetic for the day perfectly; the outdoor ceremony was simply classic and timeless while the indoor reception was elegant and sophisticated with the hardwood floors, rich reds and golds. We love how the Westin brought it all together to create one fantastic party in their two distinct spaces!
The Westin has also extended an exclusive deal for our readers! Use the code WGT2016 for an extra hour of bar and entree upgrades for any weddings booked on available Saturdays or Sundays in 2016 and early 2017. Limitations subject to Westin availability.

The meeting of these two lovebirds was certainly fate! Crazy enough, Mark and Natalie met in Milan while studying abroad during college; Mark went to school at the University of Maryland and Natalie went to the University of Texas, but somehow they ended up in the same country when studying abroad! Once Mark proposed to Natalie they wanted to take their engagement session photos in the quaint side streets of Georgetown that reminded them of their time in Europe. The weather was overcast during their DC engagement session with Kira Nicole Photography, but the brides cheery spring dress and fresh flowers in bloom helped set a perfect mood for the day. Best wishes to Mark and Natalie as they get married in the Domincan Republic this winter, and thank you for sharing your engagement session with us!
