Ethereal and Romantic Bridal Portrait Inspiration
April 6, 2017

We love today’s romantic bridal portrait inspiration because it only is it ethereal and beautiful, but it is also affordable and environmental. We love this inspirational shoot because it really represents a look that our couples can easily recreate at an amazing price! Brides should know that they can have a really beautiful day without having to spend a fortune. This shoot includes smart environmental ideas; the bouquet was made of locally farmed florals and foraged materials and they included bridal details like reusable napkins and a hankie that can often be subbed for wasteful materials. What’s important is that brides think about what matters to them and emphasize it their day.  For today’s bride, she really wanted a very personal day that was well-priced, stylish, and had low-environmental impact wherever possible. We know a lot of you ladies and gents out there are looking for the same thing!

The two looks are on trend bridal separates that could potentially be worn past the wedding day! The first look includes the delicate lace and tulle A-line Garden Skirt and the versatile Long Sleeve Lace Topper that can go over any Bridal Separate Top. The second look features a Gatsby inspired Long Island Top and stunning full Tulle Dream Skirt. It really does look like a dream! The vows, in this case a poem, were painted on fabric so that the bride can reuse this piece as decor around the home in any number of ways: hung above a window, framed, as a throw at the end of the bed, etc. We love the idea of putting calligraphy on cloth because it keeps a meaningful moment close to the couple long after the wedding day is over. Thank you to JenS Photography for sharing this bridal portrait inspiration with us!

Chic City Bridal Portraits In DC At Union Station
December 11, 2015

All aboard! Grab your train ticket and your love of bridal style, because today, we’re headed to one of the hubs of Washington DC, Union Station, to feature high-fashion city chic wedding inspiration just for you! For these bridal portraits, the “bride” opted for an elegant and romantic hair style with dramatic eye make-up that’s flawless! The fall-feel to her lush and unique bouquet, complete with golden leaves and peach toned roses, made the bridal look that much more romantic, especially with the grand backdrop of the outdoor columns and archways at Union Station. Seeing these images makes it hard to imagine that Union Station is a bustling and busy train station right on Capitol Hill! Her wedding dress has delicate details of floral lace and a flowing skirt, perfect to dance the night away in! Her wedding day look is effortless, yet oh-so chic, befitting of a Washington DC city wedding in such a grand venue. A special thanks to DC area and destination wedding photographer Renee Hollingshead for sharing this city-chic bridal inspiration with us! What will you wear on your wedding day?

From Renee: Autumn in the northeast is a huge favorite for Washington DC residents. The weather is gorgeous, the fall trees are breathtaking, and the city is filled with so much charm. With only a few more warm days left for the year, we pulled together a team of Washington DC creatives for an incredible bridal inspiration. The famous Union Station was the centerpiece for the inspiration that pulled in all of the city-chic elements seamlessly together. From the generous, natural fall foliage in the bridal bouquet, to the pretty-messy undo hair style, to the incredible beaded bridal gown, this bridal portrait session screams “romance in the city” in the most elegant way possible. This is the perfect wedding inspiration for the modern-city bride!

Rustic Fall Bridal Portrait Session in Virginia
August 12, 2015

Looking for some fabulous fall or outdoor wedding ideas for the beautiful Virginia countryside? Then look no further than today’s rustic chic wedding inspiration photographed Lindsey Zovko Photography who beautifully captured a bridal portrait session at the The Market at Grelen in Somerset, Virginia. The inspiration for this bridal session was a bird charm dating back to the Civil War that the bride wore around her neck. With that in mind, the wedding vendor team went minimal on decor and rich in color to mimic the look flawlessly. You know we love the fall here in the DC area and this inspiration is perfect for a fall wedding especially with the rustic bridal bouquet that is overflowing with autumn wedding colors. We can’t get enough of the rolling hills and stunning Virginia landscape that set the scene for a calm and relaxing bridal portait session.

From Lindsey: Her bridal look was vintage inspired, and it was all designed around a beautiful bird charm that dates back to the Civil War.  The charm was such a gorgeous heirloom piece that we knew it needed to stand out. Therefore, we went with a simple, but unique wedding gown that is an original, custom made creation. The low neckline of the bridal dress allowed the charm to shine, and the versatile back was perfect for allowing the bride to transition from a warmer ceremony to a cooler evening reception. Her hair was kept loose and free, and the bridal halo was just the right piece to complete her sweet, vintage, relaxed look.

The Market at Grelen, one of the largest tree nurseries in the state of Virginia and a gorgeous wedding venue, recently added a beautiful bridal suite onto their property. This bridal shoot was meant to showcase the suite and give inspiration for utilizing a beautiful dressing space on their wedding day.As for the flowers, the colors were chosen to compliment the bird charm, and the organic nature of the bridal bouquet went perfectly with the flow of the gown.

Blooming Romance Bridal Portrait Inspiration
April 25, 2013

We love bridal portraits here! Well, really we love any excuse to get dressed up! If you are thinking about bridal portraits, we have little seasonal inspiration for you!. This styled bridal portrait session from Studio DBI can only be described with one word: breathtaking! Everything about this inspiration shoot is blooming with romance”from the incredible, natural lighting to the all-white styling beautifully captured by Paired Images, it all comes together perfectly. And hello, gorgeous floral crown, you are looking too pretty to not be on my head! Liza of Studio DBI also shares some more about all the pretty you’re about to see. Take it away, Liza¦

Short-Wedding-Dress White-Bridal-Floral-Wreath

From Liza: This styled bridal shoot was inspired by the essence of spring – fun, flirty, and romantic. These three descriptors drove the styling – from the length of the dress to the daytime setup and wild bouquet.

Bridal-Wreath

With any event design I like to stay conscious of the season. I also love including inconspicuous accents of the underlying idea/theme. The big obvious choice for any early spring design is incorporating blooming branches. This is the only time of the year this happens in such abundance that I  couldn’t resist. wanted to not only incorporate but to highlight these beautiful branches.

Washington-DC-Wedding-Inspiration DC-Styled-Shoot-DBI-Events

When styling your wedding, engagement shoot, or special event think of what you want the atmosphere to be and then of the people/place/colors/items that remind you or can recreate that atmosphere for you. For me, romance screams Paris… especially in the spring. Therefore, I included a set of antique books on the Louvre (to serve as decor and a centerpiece riser) and french breakfast pastries, to furthermore allude to the romantic feel.

While traditional wedding design focuses on flower variety, sometimes it is just as beautiful to spotlight a solo ingredient. I chose to create a flower crown, bouquet and arrangement all including blooming branches. The simplicity of one ingredient almost organizes the chaos of the wild natural blooms.

Floral-Bridal-Hairpiece

I decided to stay natural with both hair and make-up to generate a feeling of fun and easy spirited, again what spring is all about. We added a touch of sophisticated elegance through the custom pearl necklace with antique crystal flowers. Every bride needs a statement piece.

Washington DC Bridal Portraits: Lindsey
December 6, 2012

Texas might be the spot for their wedding, but Capitol Hill staffer Lindsey made sure to snap a few bridal portraits among the Washington DC landmarks before heading to the Lone Star State. Jan Michele captured Lindsey, a little bit of Texas too, on the U.S. Capitol Building grounds the day before she left. The mix of pearls and cowboy boots here couldn’t be more perfect! Right!?

Equestrian Inspired Bridal Portraits
October 2, 2012

I simply cannot get enough of these bridal portraits from Charlotte Tittle Photography. Samantha chose to include the other love of her life in this session, her horse Fede. The two make for a perfect pair, frolicking throughout Southern Heritage Farms where Samantha trains horses and gives riding lessons. Even better? Samantha’s sister happens to be Amanda of Anthomanic, and provided the to die for florals for both of the day’s stars. The gown, the sunlight, you try to pick a favorite element of these photos. I dare you!

Cherry Blossom DC Portrait Session
November 16, 2017

A wedding is one of the most important days in couple’s life. Today’s photographer Daria felt that it’s also important to capture a mother and daughter moment when the mother gets married. She wanted to capture an intimate and special moment between a mother and daughter before the new union. Where better to do this than in the groves of the Cherry Blossom trees? For full disclosure, while we prefer to pull inspiration from DC area wedding locations, we could not resist this fabulous inspiration shoot shot in Paris France. Since DC has many beautiful Cherry Blossom portrait session locations as well, we knew that it would be a great inspiration to other families looking for the same concept!

This shoot was wholly inspired by nature. This is showcased through the relationship between mother and daughter and beautiful blooming sakura cherries surrounding the chateau de Sceaux. Bride Nadia and her daughter Marina shared a “girls moment” together enjoying a picnic with Pierre Hermé desserts and berries. Thank you to Paris Happy Pictures for sharing this lovely Cherry Blossom portrait session with us today via Matchology. Check in tomorrow as we have another installation of Destination wedding planning advice from Sincerely Pete Events!

The following wedding professionals contributed to this lovely Cherry Blossom Portrait Session:
