Wedding Playlist: Bridal Party Entrance Songs
October 30, 2012

We hope everyone on the East Coast has stayed dry! To take your mind off of hurricane madness, we’re back with more from our wedding song suggestions series with local deejay Ryan Deal, owner of Mixing Maryland, and today, we’re talking bridal party entrance! Regardless of your choice for wedding entertainment and music in Washington, DC, selecting songs for the big moments infuses more of your personalities the reception and can turn the wedding party entrance into the entrance of the night! Take it away, Ryan¦

Photo Credits: The Happy Couple Wedding Photography from Jeanne + Sean’s wedding

Last time, we brought you some of the most popular and most requested wedding cake cutting songs, but why stop there? The bridal party introduction is an important part of any wedding reception. It’s the first time the couple will be introduced into the reception and lets all the guests know that dinner and dancing are right around the corner. So, we’re here to help, with a myriad of introduction songs for any taste.

The biggest question when choosing a song for the introduction is, do you go the elegant, grand entrance route or lighten things up with a fun, upbeat entrance? The possibilities are practically endless. I even had one couple introduce their bridal party as if they were professional wrestlers, each with a theme song and a pump-up-the-crowd dance. What can I say? When you do as many weddings as we do in the DC-Metro area, you tend to see it all.

So, whether you’re going for a more traditional entrance or kicking it up a notch, here are some bridal party introduction song ideas to get you started (taken from weddings we’ve DJed in 2012):

Fun/Modern Songs

1. I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas
2. Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO feat. Lauren Bennett & GoonRock
3. I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness
4. Eye of The Tiger by Survivor
5. Yeah! by Usher feat. Ludacris & Lil Jon
6. One More Time by Daft Punk
7. Thunderstruck by AC/DC
8. Party in the U.S.A. by Miley Cyrus
9. Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO
10. Safe and Sound by Capital Cities

Funny/Themed Songs

1. Another One Bites The Dust by Queen
2. Get This Party Started by Pink
3. Gold Digger by Kanye West
4. Let’s Get It Started by Black Eyed Peas
5. Forever by Chris Brown
6. You’re My Best Friend by Queen
7. The Final Countdown by Europe
8. Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N’ Roses
9. Crazy in Love by Beyonce feat. Jay-Z
10. Bring ˜Em Out by T.I. feat. Jay-Z

Timeless/Classic Songs

1. Celebration by Kool & The Gang
2. All You Need is Love by The Beatles
3. We Are Family by Sister Sledge
4. Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours by Stevie Wonder
5. Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & The Waves
6. You’re the First, the Last, my Everything by Barry White
7. With A Little Help From My Friends by The Beatles
8. Beautiful Day by U2
9. The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson
10. I Got You (I Feel Good) by James Brown

Of course this is just a short list of bridal party introduction songs to get you started, but when choosing a song for your wedding, just remember this one thing It’s your wedding! You only do it once, so make sure you’re happy with your selection and be sure to let your DJ know what song you’d like and which version if you’d like a special version to make sure you get exactly what you want.

  • Pro Tip #1: Sometimes couples opt to have each bridal party pair choose their own song for the introductions, and while this is a neat idea in theory, it doesn’t always work so well the day of. If you think about it, to walk out, pose, and then send the next pair only takes a few seconds, so a lot of songs in a small time frame can end up sounding choppy and confusing to guests. If you want to do this, make sure each pair is prepared to dance a little to give significant time between each song.
  • Pro Tip #2: If you’re planning to do a surprise dance or have something choreographed prepared, make sure to include your DJ. In most cases, the DJ will be able to create a custom song or custom mashup of songs to help you with this. In fact, we offer that service for free to all couples that wish to do so.

:::::::::::::::

Thanks so much, Ryan! Can’t wait to see (and hear) more of your wedding song ideas! If you are looking for a DJ for your wedding in the DC area, be sure to check out Mixing Maryland.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing more of Ryan’s wedding playlist ideas, so be sure to check back. In the meantime, you can browse around the local DC area wedding galleries for ideas or find more advice from local DC area wedding pros.

Royal Wedding Tea Party Celebration
May 30, 2019

May 19th marked the one year anniversary for the Duke & Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry & Meghan Markle. Last Spring, two days prior to the royal wedding of the year, Perfect Planning Events, Howerton+Wooten Events, and Exquisite Expressions collaborated to put on a Windsor Royal Tea Party for DC Area Wedding Planners to celebrate the special occasion. A royal affair it was with pomp and circumstance, plenty of fashion, and a great venue. The Historic Oxon Hill Manor served as the perfect backdrop for a royal wedding themed event. From big hats to fascinators, floral linens to a town crier,  the moist taste of an elderflower wedding cake to plenty of photo opportunities with a tea set display or a floral arch, this was a party that was not to be missed! They even awarded one of the most fashionable guests with the best hat attire;  Couture Cakes by Sabrina won with an embellished hat with pink orchids. How fab does she look?! Thank you to Perfect Planning Events for sharing this royal wedding tea party celebration with us today.

Get Ready for Your Wedding Day in Style with David’s Bridal
March 12, 2019

Your wedding day is one you’ll want to remember forever, and the special moments that you’ll cherish start with your bridal party while getting ready for your walk down the aisle. David’s Bridal has everything you need for you and your bridesmaids before you put on your dresses. The morning of the wedding is such a special time getting ready with your best friends and family. Starting with robes and lounge wear for the whole bridal party to make sure everyone feels comfy (and looks great in photos!). Then, while getting ready, gifts to thank your besties are always a sweet touch.  So, put your pre-wedding nerves at ease! Enjoy this special time before “I Do,” and don’t forget to snap tons of photos of all these pretty little details!

For today’s styled shoot, Glamour & Grace and Aisle Society envisioned an intimate and fun morning of a bride with her bridesmaids filled with gorgeous outfits and fun goodies from David’s Bridal. They kicked the morning off right snuggling and sipping coffee in cute custom PJs with a yummy mini-brunch bar for treats. All of the girls even got their personalized glass coffee mug! Following a fun filled brunch, everyone donned lace trimmed robes to get dressed.

The color palette is fresh for spring with mismatched floral print and blue dresses from David’s Bridal with pops of peach and cream in the flowers. The bride looked stunning in her barely blush embroidered floral tulle gown with lace trimmed chapel veil, ready to meet her groom! Of course you know that David’s Bridal creates stunning wedding dresses and bridesmaids gowns, but did you also know that they have everything you need to complete your head-to-toe look? They have shoes, jewelry, bags, and even headpieces! And don’t forget those undergarments. Sometimes it can be tricky to find the right bra, slip, or shapeware for your wedding dress design; at David’s bridal you can rest assured that everything will go perfectly. They really are the ultimate one-stop shop for weddings. They even do in-house alternations to ensure a perfect fit.

Fresh Farmer’s Market Inspired Bridal Shower
November 20, 2018

It’s a tight-knit group of event and wedding vendors in Washington, DC. When Joanie Rylander, of Well Dunn Catering, got engaged they threw her a Farmer’s Market inspired bridal luncheon! Janice of Bellwether Events and Kelley of Kelley Cannon Events designed and hosted the most beautiful Sunday afternoon feast.
Decked with unique place cards made out of veggies, they created a gorgeous tablescape with lush autumnal flowers, the coolest linen we ever did see, and an eclectic place setting. Lunch was fresh from the farmer’s market and served family style. Following the meal was dessert; this was a buffet of mini pies! How fun!For party favors, they offered an entire bar filled with every type of bread you could think of! First of all, this is brilliant. Second of all, you know we’re real suckers for edible favors. It was a casual Sunday gathering to honor a dear friend, and enjoy each other’s company. Thank you to Bellwether Events for sharing this fresh food inspired bridal shower.

Chill DC Bridal Shower Inspiration
March 1, 2018

There are so many ways to do a bridal shower, am I right? Everyone has a different style so why not showcase that when showering the bride to be? We can think of tons of different styles; consider bohemian, ultra feminine, city inspired, or, as seen in today’s inspiration, metallic west coast minimalism. This DC bridal shower inspiration was born from an intimate dinner party for guests at Restoratives Republic. It was created by Something Vintage Rentals and La Fleur d Jour.

Metallic minimalist copper chairs paired perfectly with lush overflowing fruit centerpieces, taper candles, and small lounge vignettes scattered throughout the room. We love how the designers put emphasis on keeping the vibe of the dinner throughout the rentals with small lounges with bohemian poofs; the wooden furniture pieces were laden with foliage, giving the aesthetic a cozy and homey. And did you catch the small berries scattered throughout the design? A bridal shower or brunch doesn’t have to be the old school cliché of games and pink tulle. It can be as easy as an intimate meal surrounded by your best friends, food, and great décor! Thank you to Anne Robert Photography for sharing this fun setting with us!

So when Cedar and Lime Co shared their inspirational Boho bridal shower inspiration, we fell in love. We knew we just had to share it with our readers! DC Bridal showers don’t have to fit into one mold. We know you might be thinking of formal tables or over the top décor. Instead, you can pull in a little West Coast spirit with picnic style seating, boho details, candles, and rustic tones. We love the mineral slab place cards mixed in with layers of gold and greenery garlands here. Cute bridal shower details include tribal themed flash tattoos and pretty Geode shower favors. We love all the unique elements of this shower! Thank you to Cedar and Lime Co for sharing this fun DC bridal shower with us!

Rose Bridal Shower Picnic
July 25, 2017

Yay! It’ finally s Rosé Day! We are excited to share a special Rosé Bridal Shower picnic with you today! Any bridesmaid or friend can easily pull off an amazing celebration for the bride to be with our tips. Using a selection of your favorite rosé wines, fun mix and match glasses, picnic lounge areas, and some favorite tunes, you can create the perfect outdoor soiree. Don’t forget to click on the links inside the post so you can purchase all of your favorites that we have featured in the shoot!

For a fun outdoor shower, we love a great summery bar cart! Mix and match glasses to partner with the various types of rosé. We love our wood bar cart from target! They have tons of other options as well. Some of our favorites include this gold and glass bar cart and this luxe modern lucite and gold stainless steel bar cart. Try to not overdo the gold if you are using rose gold or copper bar accessories.
Pro Tip: Candy sticks and rock candy are great stir sticks to add something fun to the layout and also add a pop of flavor to wine tastings!

Use blankets or tapestries to create seating areas, tossing colorful pillows (we love these, these, and those) to make the whole set up a little more comfortable. If you really want to get comfy, add a couple cheap air mattresses under there for a little extra cushion! As for the beautiful decor, pre-set trays (you can find our braided trays here) with pretty colorful settings for guests to easily transport food or drinks to picnic areas. Not only are these functional, but they’re also super cute! Your friends will also enjoy not eating straight off of paper plates on the ground. We love mix and match glassware like these stemless wine glasses and these

DIY Tip: To get the personalized blue and green wine glasses featured here, create create them using these name vinyls for guests to find their trays/seating. They are easy to adhere and can be great favors or gifts at the end of the party!

Set out family style fruit bowls and watermelon pops for colorful and cool treats. They pair well with the rosé flavor profiles and won’t be too heavy. Tie up flatware inside napkins so they not only create texture to your place settings but keep flatware from sliding around when guests move about. Ice buckets or wine coolers are an easily accessible way to leave rosé wine options at each blanket to keep guests comfortable and within reach of the fun stuff! Don’t forget about the plates! Choosing mix and match plates like this aqua blue dinner plate and this teal salad plate can really add a little more whimsy to the day.

You didn’t think we’d leave you hanging without suggesting some of our favorite wines, did you? We have some really amazing ones featured here that we had a great time taste testing. We are in loooove with Winc. Check out Summer water, Funk Zone Rosé, and, the one we couldn’t get enough of, Ruza 3 pack Cans! Use this Winc link and code UNITEDWITHLOVE to get 20% off your first order!
Vinebox makes an amazing 3 pack of rosé tubes that we featured in the shoot. These make the perfect favor to go with your guest’s custom glasses. They are a 1 glass serving in such adorable packaging! We also suggest one of our favorite wines (which comes in a BEAUTIFUL bottle with a glass cork) Cotes Des Roses Rosé. Looking for something a little more bubbly? Try Sauvage Sparkling Rosé.

Real Weddings of 2016: Best Bridal Parties
December 20, 2016

Happy Tuesday! We are slowly but surely making our way toward Christmas and the New Year and we are super excited! Today we are bringing you some of the best bridal parties of 2016. We know that your entourage is an integral part of your big day, and they often deserve a standing ovation for putting up with everything that goes into the wedding planning process. We also know that they are always fabulously dressed (because you probably picked out their duds!) and often the life of the party, so we wanted to bring them into the spotlight for a day! In some of our favorites below, we love the use of color, accessories, and stunning details present in these DC area wedding parties!

Cheery Woodlands at Algonkian Wedding

This bridal party didn’t let a little rain dampen their day! With the cheerful hues of pink present in the bridesmaid’s dresses and the groomsmen’s trendy bow ties, who needs sunshine? Kristen Gardner Photography was able to really get some great contrast going between the dreary sky and the soft gowns in this wedding at Woodlands at Algonkian. We absolutely love how the yellows and oranges of the bouquets offset the pinks in the gowns and how the pop of pink on the bow ties paired exceptionally well with the navy suits.

Multi-Cultural Rustic Maryland Wedding

We love when couples are able to embrace both of their faiths on their big day. Weaving different backgrounds into one ceremony and reception really brings everyone together and always making for a unique aesthetic that portrays both a couple’s similarities and differences. We can’t get enough! From the groomsmen in tallitot and the women in traditional Pakistani garb, we are blown away by these beautiful bridal parties. Procopio Photography was able to get some pretty amazing shots of these groups in this rustic Thorpewood wedding!

Longview Gallery DC Wedding

With the amazing Cathedral and LongView Gallery as this bridal parties’ backdrop, we love how the purple ombre really pops! The bride and groom went with very neutral creams and gold for their design and decor, letting the colors of the wedding party stand out; we think  DuHon Photography captured this perfectly. Ombre is always one of our favorites so we had to include these lovely ladies and gents!

Classic Towson Maryland Wedding

Is there anything more fun than matching floral robes to get ready in? We are swooning over these girly floral robes worn by each of the bridesmaids before the big day at The Mansion at Valley Country Club. Floral robes are an amazing bridesmaid gifts that your ladies are sure to love and wear over and over again! We love how Marta Locklear was able to capture these lovely ladies in their robes and then in their beautiful light pink bridesmaid’s gowns that were unique to each woman while maintaining a unified color.

Fall Virginia Vineyard Wedding

These ladies had some beautiful floral robes as well, but we couldn’t stop staring at their stunning gowns for the evening! While they were all incredibly different and clearly fit each unique taste, the overall neutral color story really packs a big punch!  Genevieve Leiper Photography took some pretty amazing pictures of these ladies at Morais Vineyard, but we are obsessed with shot of their backs as it really shows off some beautiful details.

New York Bridal Fashion Week Recap
October 25, 2016

Hello United With Love readers! It’s Astrid from Astrid Photography over here today! Thank you all for following along on my UWL Instagram Takeover while I was in NYC for 2016 Bridal Fashion Week. There were so many fun and beautiful things to see and do, and I am excited to share them all with you!

As a photographer, it is so fun to see new wedding trends pop up year after year. Observing the designers, their concepts and seeing the models twirl in the dresses gave me excited butterflies for what is to come!

First off, I went to the Anna Maier runway show and had bridal showcase appointments with Sareh Nouri and Heidi Elnora so all of my findings are mostly based off of these three shows! Let’s dive right in! What can we can expect in the wedding world for 2017? First and foremost, the lace game is still going strong; lace overlays, lace sleeves and lace necklines seemed to be a common theme.

We will also be seeing dramatic backs continue to make an appearance – think oversized, elegant bows and intricate beadwork to name a few. We love the new Heidi Elnora line Build-a-Bride which contains pieces that layer together to create unique one of a kind gowns for each type of bride. We love a classic fitted silhouette with a lace cape topper for the ceremony switched to a skirt overlap for the reception!

Dresses with off-the-shoulder sleeves were a fun surprise, and I think we will be seeing more of it next year. This understated, elegant style is making a comeback and I have to say, I totally love it. Another trend I want to touch on is one we actually saw a bit of in 2016, and I think it’s going to be even stronger in 2017 – colored wedding dresses. Think soft greys, romantic blushes and peachy/champagne tones. They were used on everything from simple, form fitting dresses to full skirts with sweetheart tops. Other playful surprises that I saw were luscious, velvety bridesmaid dresses and even a bigger surprise…the use of capes with your wedding dress!

Lastly, I think the biggest trend we are going to see in 2017 is bringing a little bit of sexy to wedding dresses. I witnessed collections that included sexy bare backs and plunging necklines. There was an abundance of sheer silhouettes, covered only by very intentionally placed florals, patches of lace or crystals, and beads. These are very romantic, very sultry, and reminded me of a mashup of upscale lingerie meets bridal gown.

Of course, no Bridal Market would be complete without the legendary Martha Stewart Weddings Bridal Market Party and The Knot Gala which both take place during Bridal Market week every year. Hundreds of buyers, designers, wedding industry professionals, and magazine editors all join together to let loose and have some fun while surrounded by the best of the best of wedding inspiration.

This year, the Martha Stewart Weddings Party took place at the Hudson-Mercantile, which had three floors and included guests such as Randy Fenoli from TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress as well as Martha Stewart herself. The rooftop was the place to be, which overlooked the NYC city skyline – a killer view of the lit up New Yorker hotel – while surrounded by live music, great food and drink, and intimate conversation.

After the Martha Stewart Weddings Party, it was time for The Knot Gala. The Knot Gala was truly an experience of a lifetime. Held at the iconic New York Public Library, Julie Savage from Strawberry Milk Events planned an event not to be forgotten. It was a 20 year milestone for The Knot as well as the end of Bridal Market week so there was a lot to celebrate! The theme was Fêtes des Rêves, which translates to “Party of Dreams” and the entire NYPL was truly transported into a Parisian garden fantasy. Think oversized carousels, white florals dripping from the ceilings, and floating mini cheese and charcuterie boards. Carnival characters, mimes and live entertainers roamed the gorgeous venue, and a Laduree Pop-Up Patisserie were just a few of the  jaw dropping surprises.

the-knot-gala-2016-athe-knot-gala-2016-bthe-knot-gala-2016-cthe-knot-gala-2016-dthe-knot-gala-2016

Lastly, how could we forget the surprise guests, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell from ABC’s The Bachelor and their new spin-off Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After? Every time you walked into a room, it truly brought you into a completely new and overwhelmingly beautiful Parisian experience. It made me so proud to be part of the DC wedding industry and to see my fellow DC wedding vendors Edge Floral Event Designers and Revolution Event Design completely make Julie of Strawberry Milk Events party vision come to life!

Thank you UWL for having me as a guest blogger, and I hope you enjoyed my behind the scenes of 2016 Bridal Fashion Week! If you would like to continue seeing more behind the scenes from the wedding industry world, feel free to check out my blog at www.astridphoto.com/blog or follow me at @astridphoto on Instagram!

Au Revoir! xo
