Old Town Alexandria Ballroom Wedding
May 13, 2020

We are excited to share today’s Old Town Alexandria ballroom wedding with you today! Jenlain and Matty incorporated the iconic DC cherry blossoms into their springtime wedding with the most subtle touches. From the elegant blush bridesmaids attire, through to the abundant florals we love the touches of pink throughout. Moreover, we are all about Matty’s handsome Grooms suiting! Even his maroon jacket was the perfect combination against the light hues. The majority of Matty’s family came to the states from England to celebrate. So fancy hats, and killer style was abound on their guests. As a nod to his roots; a special grooms cake was created paying tribute to his love of Newcastle. Thank you to Alicia Lacey Photography for sharing their Old Town Alexandria ballroom wedding with us today!

Airy National Cathedral Engagement Session
January 24, 2020

What a wonderful start to the year full of wedding inspiration! Did you catch the colorful Woodend Sanctuary wedding  or romantic Georgetown elopement  inspiration? Today we are sharing a light and airy National Cathedral Engagement Session by Alicia Lacey Photography. Nadia & Juan met almost eight years ago at the Puerto Rican Festival & Parade in their hometown of Buffalo, NY. While they didn’t know one another before being introduced by Nadia’s cousin, their parents actually attended school together and even worked with one another! They ended up moving to the DC area for work, where Juan works for the Secret Service and Nadia is a nurse. They just adopted their first puppy, a tiny grey french bulldog named Boujee! We love the sweet love shared between them in their DC engagement photos and wish them all the best as they plan their wedding! Check in next week for more beautiful DC wedding inspiration!

Iconic DC Engagement Session at the Lincoln Memorial
January 10, 2020

Max and Emily met while she was attending school and he was working for GM. Life eventually took them to Chicago, where Max is still residing. Emily, however, is an anesthesiology resident and moved to NYC this summer to finish up her final year. They are hoping to get back to DC — where Max grew up — when all is said and done, but you never know where you’ll end up! These two don’t just live in cold areas, they also LOVE to ski and ice skate — hobbies that both shared before they even met. It was last Christmas when Max suggested they go into town to skate for the evening. The line was unusually long and if you know anything about Max, you’ll know he does NOT wait in lines. But the plan was in place and he knew this was where he wanted to propose. 45 minutes later, they were on the ice when Max “slipped”… and then quickly popped onto one knee to ask Emily to marry him. And the whole event was even caught on someone’s phone, but all this time later, they’ve never received the pictures! Luckily, the amazing Alicia Lacey Photography captured snaps some shots of the two of them at the Lincoln Memorial! These iconic dc engagement photos are just so sweet!

Classic All White Four Seasons Georgetown Wedding
December 18, 2019

November is one of those months that is completely unpredictable weather-wise; it could be a warm, fall day that makes you feel like summer is still just around the corner or it could be bitter cold reminding that yes, indeed, winter is coming. Unfortunately, Taylor & Jake experienced the latter on their winter wedding day, complete with over twenty mph winds. The wind was rushing so hard that it literally was pushing folks backwards as they made the walk from vehicle to ceremony. And while the National Cathedral is one of the most beautiful architectural pieces in all of DC, the inside is very dark, so besides one small alcove where she was able to capture the first look, all photos from Alicia Lacey Photography were to be taken outside. And these two? Not one complaint, says Alicia.

Taylor was stunning in her Pnina Tornai dress (although, no surprise, she is one of the effortlessly beautiful women that would look good in a sack!) and somehow, in spite of the weather, was in the best spirits throughout wedding party photos, family photos, and couples portraits all outdoors. Their wedding party and family was equally accommodating. The merriment continued throughout the entire evening as everyone arrived at the Four Seasons for cocktail hour and the beautiful reception!

Romantic Fall Army and Navy Club Wedding
November 14, 2019

We thoroughly love the colors that come with DC fall weddings, as we have one of the most beautiful areas for turning foliage and autumn festive décor. Cady and James envisioned a berry hued wedding with rich navy and gold accents, that paired perfectly fall pumpkins and metallic accents. They were married at an iconic Georgetown church followed by a dancing filled evening at the prestigious Army and Navy Club in the heart of the district. The pair met in college where the groom was DJ’ing a party that Cady was at. Coming together later on, the pair instantly clicked and their story came full circle when James DJ’d a dance set between band breaks at their own wedding! Talk about an epic party trick! Our favorite part to their special touches, were the handmade porcelain hummingbirds that each guest received as an escort cards. Inscribed with the couples initials and date, they are a tradition given in James’ family as wedding tokens, and made by a special person dear to the couple. What an amazing memento of a lovely union! Thank you Roberts & Co Events for sharing a look at their fall Army and Navy Club wedding.

Elegant Carnegie Institute for Science Wedding
September 4, 2019

Michelle & Chris were married during a stunning Carnegie Institution for Science wedding in Washington, DC earlier this summer. The couple desired to have an elegant, timeless event, featuring gold, white, gray and a hint of blush for a neutral and metallic wedding color story. Getting ready for the day started at The Darcy Hotel, just a few blocks away from the venue. At the venue, a lush, garden-like floral arch was created for the couple to stand within during the ceremony as they said their vows, while vine-like greenery wrapped around the Carnegie’s columns for an extra natural touch. A mix of high and low wedding floral arrangements filled the dining space, with a grand king’s table for the entire wedding party.

The couple has a love for all things “The Beatles” and incorporated real record albums into their escort display by listing guest names on albums, which coordinated with the names of the tables guests would be sitting at (all tables were named after Beatles albums!). The Bride, Michelle, shared a touching moment dancing with her father to The Beatles song “Michelle” and the Bride’s two sisters (who doubled as her Maids of Honor) choreographed their entire toast to include references to every Beatles song they could possibly sing within the 5 minute speech! Even the couple’s life-sized cardboard cut-out of Paul McCartney made an appearance! As a nod to the Bride’s college days, North Carolina State Mascots adorned the top of their cake. The evening wrapped up with a glow stick send off with family and friends. Thank you to Happily Hitched for sharing this beautiful Washington DC wedding with us today.

Chevy Chase Cherry Blossom Wedding
March 4, 2019

Colleen & Ted were married in a beautiful spring wedding at the stunning Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Washington, DC. Their Chevy Chase cherry blossom wedding was celebrated with their friends and family later that evening. The reception at the historic Chevy Chase Club in Maryland.

The historic Chevy Chase Club looked absolutely radiant when decorated with the stunning spring florals by Helen Olivia Flowers. We adore the pops of cherry blossom florals that dotted the reception space. The blush, gold, and cream details perfectly complimented the bright ballroom and a fun candy bar awaited guests as they entered the reception. The evening was capped off with a timeless sparkler exit in front of the Chevy. Thank you to Alicia Lacey Photography for sharing this Maryland wedding with us today.

Pretty in Pink Tented Wedding
February 11, 2019

Lauren & Robert’s stunning pretty in pink tented wedding was hosted at Rust Manor and was filled with a ton of handmade details. These elements were so gorgeous, you would absolutely never know they were DIY! Together, these two handmade their black and white wooden dance floor, oh my gosh! They also created their monogrammed bar, all signage, a custom love story, and even a 7-foot escort card display! We are so impressed! The soft pinks and dusty tones of this color story really gave the day an romantic, dreamy feel. They chose to forgo old traditions, like a wedding party, opting instead to get ready with their families and simply focus on each other throughout the day. Thank you to Alicia Lacey Photography for sharing this stunning DIY wedding with us today!

Lily of the Valley Inspired Wedding
May 3, 2018

Boy have we got some truly beautiful spring Northern Virginia wedding inspiration for you today! This wedding photo shoot was inspired by the warm, but formal interiors of traditional southern homes. Along the way, the shoot’s designers from Lauren Niles Events fell in love with the idea of incorporating lily of the valley as a motif throughout. This detail served as a nod to a time when blooms were chosen for their meaning; in this case, humility, sweetness, and happiness.

It was hard to choose just a few of our favorite elements, but we sure tried! The gorgeous Retreat at Cool Spring is a fantastic Virginia wedding venue with well-appointed furnishings and spectacular light. The delicate bouquet was wrapped with a vintage millinery ribbon. What a unique piece! The honey-hued velvet napkins on the dining table left us swooning. Finally, the towering cake adorned with an intricate sugar wreath of greens and lily of the valley has us simultaneously dying for a piece and not daring to cut one. This real couple’s love was exuberant, and their portraits are the centerpiece of the entire shoot. Thank you so much to Alicia Lacey Photography for sharing this beautiful lily of the valley wedding inspiration with us today.

Pastel Garden Inspired Leesburg Wedding
January 8, 2018

Anyone else completely and utterly ready for summer yet? I am thankful we have beautiful spring DC weddings to gawk over and distract us from these freezing temperatures outside! Today brings a pastel hued garden-esque Thomas Birkby House wedding in the heart of Leesburg, Virginia. Combine the remarkable talents of the OG of floral design, Holly Chapple Flowers with Alicia Lacey Photography’s ethereal images and we promise you will want to pin all of this to your wedding inspiration boards!

According to Alicia, the couple were a ball of nerves the morning of the wedding; they were so anxious to see each other for their First Look in the gardens! However, the moment Will turned and saw his bride Kristine, you can see anxiety melt always, leaving pure joy and excitement. Joined by their adorable fur baby Cleo, the couple finished portraits then so they were able to be present during the remainder of the wedding day festivities. We adore the soft blush color story in their textured florals; from the outdoor ceremony arbor to the dinner plate dahlias on the reception tables, it came together perfectly.  Thank you to Kristine and Will alongside Alicia Lacey Photography, for sharing their romantic Leesburg Virginia wedding. Come back all week for continued beautiful DC real weddings!
