Jenn and Avery met at James Madison University where they were both serving as Student Ambassadors, and their love story began to unfold from there. After dating through part of college and after graduating, Avery proposed by surprising Jenn on her family vacation in Florida while she was at a favorite restaurant. Avery face-timed Jenn and said “Where are you?” He had panned out the phone call so she could see the beach and when she said that’s where she was he said “Me too!” Shortly thereafter, he proposed on the beach. As a nod to their proposal story they selected a venue with a water view and a reception space big enough to all of their friends and family. The River View at Occoquan was the perfect fit and complimented their seaside palette as well.
Jenn and Avery’s wedding details each tell a part of their story, from the invitations Jenn designed with her friend at Paint it Forward to the beaded lace sleeve cuff from her mother’s wedding dress. Jenn and Avery celebrated with a rich, faith-filled ceremony that included a beaming bride, an emotional groom and words of deep commitment. Avery was ready to even ask Jenn to help him read his vows, as he was overcome with emotion (and joking about ruining his make up). Their vows to one another were so memorable and endearing. At the conclusion of their ceremony, they celebrated with a walk down the aisle and a kiss. This was followed by group portraits with some of the amazing folks in their “village” of friends and family who have been there for them all along. When it was time for their portraits together, the overcast skies made for mild temperatures, which is not always common in June! There was no rain, just joy! Following portraits, Jenn’s vision for the bright and airy pastel wedding reception really came to life. Jenn and Avery made their grand entrances after their wedding party was introduced and shared a special first dance as husband and wife. The rest of the evening was spectacular! There were so many wonderful moments and the room was filled with love, joy, the JMU fight song and lots of incredible singing and playing thanks to the Bobby McKees Dueling Piano Bar. Thank you to Lieb Photographic for sharing this pastel wedding day with us!
