It is easy to forget you are standing in the middle of Washington, DC when you are surrounded by the linden trees and gorgeous gardens in the grove at the Meridian House but Catherine and Erik’s wedding took the transformation one step further, immediately transporting you to France. From the subtle lavender touches in the escort card display to the champagne sabering this classic French inspired DC wedding was the epitome of that elegant je ne se quois.
Kaitlin of Cheers Darling Events worked with the couple to create an elegant, food focused, spring-time celebration with their nearest and dearest. Catherine, a lawyer, and Erik, a cyber security expert and Marine, are sweet, modest and truly the kindest people you have ever met. From the beginning of the wedding planning process, Catherine & Erik were relaxed and focused on the most important elements of the day; having an amazing meal and time with their friends and family. All of the wedding details reflected their sweet personalities starting with the vellum wrapped and wax seal adorned invites by Steph B & Co.
The wedding day began with getting ready and a first look at the quintessential DC hotel, the Hay-Adams. The couple recently took a bike trip through Belgium tasting beer so they loved the perfect blue bikes at the hotel. A dapper bridal party in Joanna August blue dresses and classic black tuxes were honored to stand with their friends as they said I Do.
The Meridian House was an absolute dream location for the ceremony and celebration. The ceremony took place on the lawn and cocktails in the oh so Parisian Linden Grove complete with a BD3 Design bar and amazing hors d’oeuvres by Well Dunn Catering. Cocktail hour wrapped up with a thank you from the couple and the groom sabering a bottle of bubbly in front of all of his friends and family (no pressure, as it was Erik’s first attempt at sabering!). Guests then moved inside to dinner in the house’s Drawing Room and Library. The night ended with dancing, cake and a sparkler send off, sending these two to their conte de fées (fairy tale). Thank you to Bonnie Sen Photography for sharing this sweet DC wedding with us today.
