Karl and Meghan decided that, on their wedding day, they wanted to focus on the things that were important to them. Karl grew up playing music, so they knew they wanted a band. Meghan’s Catholic faith was important to her, so they decided on a very traditional Catholic church wedding ceremony. Two two both grew up in small towns in Massachusetts and South Carolina, so they are not inherently city people. Because of this, they decided they wanted a venue that reflected that. They had always loved going to Virginia wineries together and liked the idea of being out in the country to have a relaxed celebration with friends and family away from the hustle and bustle of DC. The first time they toured Stone Tower Winery, they fell in love with the view and booked soon afterwards! Meghan decided on a burgundy and blush wedding color scheme, as burgundy is her favorite color AND the color of wine. What could be more perfect?
We love all of the personal touches that Meghan and Karl added to the affair. Following their sentimental ceremony, it was back to the winery for photos before joining guests at cocktail hour. We loved that they had a “northern” appetizer (mini lobster rolls, yum) and a “southern” appetizer (mini chicken and waffles, yum again) for guests to snack on. Everyone raved about those, as well as the rest of their food and three signature cocktails – a “his,” a “hers,” and an “ours.” The pair also had a fire pit with s’mores and a cigar bar to enjoy outdoors during the reception. After dancing the night away, they capped off the evening with a sparkler send off before heading to a cabin on the winery property to spend the night. Again, what would be more perfect?!
Meghan’s favorite moments were seeing Karl in church for the first time and her first look with her father. Karl loved the band (especially the last song of the night “Piano Man,” a favorite party song of his fraternity) and the sparkler send off. Thank you to the beautiful bride Meghan for sharing this Stone Tower Winery wedding with us today!
