Pastel Spring Riverside on the Potomac Wedding
September 16, 2019 Alex Hamilton

All of the details that Jackie and Bryce chose for their soft spring wedding at Riverside on the Potomac were perfection; from the earthy, stunning sage green, lavender, and ivory florals that The Rosy Posy crafted, the delicate calligraphy on the milk jug table number wall display, to the farmhouse tables and sage green chivari chairs that tied in with the bridesmaid’s gowns. Jackie described their vision for their day to be simple, rustic, and elegant, and together, they achieved exactly that. There were so many sweet details peppered throughout the day that made it completely “them.” Jackie was able to highlight her sister as the maid of honor with a stunning chiffon ivory and sage floral gown and Bryce had just his two brothers standing up there with him. This kept the vibe intimate and special. Jackie also had a keepsake of her late grandmother’s thumbprint as part of her bridal bouquet; family is so important to these two and so many of their loved ones traveled from a distance to celebrate with them. There are so many reasons to love this wedding! Thank you to Wolfcrest Photography for sharing this elegant rustic Virginia wedding with us today!

Tell us your proposal story. Bryce asked my parents for their permission by driving up to New Jersey and back in one day. I was in New York visiting my sister at the time and had no idea he was doing this. My dad picked Bryce up at my aunt’s law firm so my best friend and neighbor would not see his truck in my aunt’s driveway. My dad bought lunch and then the interrogation began. They asked all the questions any concerned parents would and at the end of it Bryce had their permission. It was the Friday before Christmas and my whole family planned a day in NYC to see the tree and the Rockettes. Bryce canceled last minute because he couldn’t find a dog sitter and I was really upset. When my family arrived back from the city to my house in NJ, Bryce was there waiting with a videographer and lights everywhere. He got down on one knee and asked! My parents were in on it the whole time but none of my siblings or cousins knew!

What was the most important part of wedding planning for you two? We didn’t want to lose sight of what we wanted as a couple. We did not want a religious wedding, we wanted people dancing all night, we wanted the food to be excellent, we wanted there to be enough booze and we wanted everyone to have a great time. We really focused on the wedding planner, photographer, DJ and food. The venue is so naturally beautiful that floral were important, but not a huge focus. We skipped the wedding cake and went with pies.
