Capitol Building Engagement Session
May 24, 2019 Alex Hamilton

Haley & Brecken met at their University’s Model UN classes 3 years ago and just hit it off! Flash forward to December 22, 2018, Brecken surprised Haley in New York City and proposed in front of the United Nations. The two had competed there during their University days and fell in love. It’s really where their story began. They are both in DC for work right now and Haley recently found out that she was accepted to Law School at Georgetown, making it the perfect town for their engagement photos! To them, DC is a place full of opportunity for them to create an impact on the world. It’s exactly where they had always hoped to start their lives together. Thank you  to  Xiaoqi Li Photography for sharing this Capitol Building engagement session with us.

Tell us your proposal story. Brecken surprised me in New York City. I thought he was on the other side of the country. My mom told me I was going on a Christmas scavenger hunt and gave me a folder with directions. Inside, there were pictures of us throughout our relationship and every letter I had ever written or sent him (even while he was living in Peru for two years). There was also a map to the United Nations, where the Uber driver dropped me off. My fiancé was standing there, with my favorite flowers, in a semicircle of framed pictures of us. After giving me a hug, he shared some sweet words before asking me to marry him! It was perfect. We got to spend the rest of the day together before joining both of our families for dinner and an engagement party, then going to see my favorite play on Broadway! It was the absolute perfect day.
