Rachel and Nick are lucky to have a love unlike most. You can simple tell by the way they look at each other or when one enters the room how much love is shared between them. They wanted a wedding day all the same. Their gorgeous Silver Swan Bayside wedding was classic and simple, on the most cloudless June day. With the view of the Chesapeake being so beautiful on its on, Rachel wanted to kept the decor simple with a stunning garland ceremony arch with just a few pops of pink here and there as their ceremony backdrop. Her color palette of ivory, blush, maroon and green was the perfect amount of color while letting the venue shine. The most important element for Rachel and Nick was their guests being well fed and having a good time. And that they did! Thank you to DC wedding planner, Satin & Sage Events for sharing their wedding with us today!
What is your proposal story? “Our story began in Annapolis, MD. It is my favorite place to be and we have made so many memories there. For the proposal, he took me back to Annapolis and we did all of my favorite things. We ate at my favorite restaurant, watched the boats pass on the pier, walked around to our favorite shops, and stopped by the marina where he used to live when we started dating. He took me on a walk down memory lane (literally) and under a giant cherry blossom tree was a set up of rose pedals and lights. He got down on one knee, proposed, and as soon as I said yes, our families came out from hiding and surprised us! After the proposal, he had a dinner set up for everyone to celebrate. It was absolutely perfect.”
Tell us about your attire choices: “I chose a champagne wedding gown with ivory lace, a long train, skinny straps, and an open back; it was my dream dress! I also had an extra long veil that was longer than the train of my dress, which was my favorite accent piece. My shoes were made with a silky blush material and matched our color theme perfectly. The guys all wore black tuxedos, which looked great with the blush bridesmaid dresses.”
Favorite Part of the Day: “My favorite parts of the day were the first look with my husband and his reaction seeing me for the first time! There is nothing like that feeling! We were both so excited and that was the moment everything started to feel real, i loved it!
I also had really touching moments with my dad when he saw me for the first time, and with my sister and mom as I got ready for the day. My favorite moments throughout the night were spent with family. I loved the speeches my family gave and the letter my husband wrote for me before our ceremony.”
Advice for couples: “Take some time for the two of you in private, even if it is a few minutes! Your wedding is about your new marriage, after all! After the ceremony, soak in the commitment you just made and enjoy that feeling of pure joy, there is nothing like it!
All that really matters on your big day is that you are surrounded by friends and family, and lots of love! Only you will notice if something did not come together perfectly. You will only remember all the fun you had and how perfect everything was exactly how it all came together! Try not to sweat the small stuff!”
