First Date Inspired Engagement Session
February 22, 2019 Alex Hamilton

For today’s engagement photos, we’re going to do things a little differently. This couples wedding planner, Margo of Bright Occasions, got both sides of the couple’s first date story, which is great because this is a first date inspired engagement session. We want to showcase that day through their eyes! Keep reading for the story below. For their engagement photos the two chose to stroll around Old Town Alexandria with their photographer Elizabeth Fogarty. As a nod to their first date, they pair even grabbed some ice cream; how cute did those photos turn out?

Alexandra’s Side: We decided to meet up at Nicecream on a Monday evening. I was coming from work (teaching ballet) and didn’t have time to go home and change so I had to get ready at the studio. While I was changing, I pulled on my jeans and heard a huge ripping sound, and to my horror, I looked down and saw that I had ripped my jeans right by the zipper! I knew I couldn’t wear these pants on the date (so much for looking cute yet casual!) so I had to wear my jogger pants. Because of my jean incident, I was running late so I text Mark to apologize and would be there soon. When I arrived, he was waiting outside Nicecream and my first thought was, “Wow he’s cute!” He was very cool and understanding about my lateness and we laughed about my ripped pants story. We had great conversation at Nicecream and it seemed like we both didn’t want to end the date, so we walked to Northside Social to grab some tea and continue chatting. At the end of our date, Mark walked me to my car and asked if I was free next weekend. I was thinking, “YES! This is great!” I didn’t go home wondering when I would hear from him again. It was a great first date!

Mark’s Side: We met at the Nicecream Factory in Clarendon on Monday May 22nd, I was nervous to meet her and wondering if our chemistry would be as good in person as it was over our messages. She was running a little late (I’ll let her tell that part of the story, haha) which actually helped me calm down a little bit. When we met, I was drawn to her smile and our conversation continued to flow easily. We went for post-ice cream tea at Northside Social and carried on talking for a couple more hours; after walking her back to her car and saying good night, I smiled, turned around, and said to myself, “that’s how a first date is supposed to go!”
