Kristalyn and Scott wanted a casual, fun DC wedding that really reflected their personalities, was family centered, and was a great time for their guests. The pair opted to kick off the day with a cocktail party pre-ceremony to shake things up a bit. We love this idea! It was also essential to incorporate family, so the ceremony contained a moment where Kristalyn expressed her love and promise of support to Scott’s daughters. She presented them both with a necklace to commemorate her commitment to them. Such a sweet moment! We are sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Scott’s daughters also did personal readings during the ceremony, along with Kristalyn’s brother and her grandmother.
Finally, Kristalyn and Scott are huge baseball fans (go Nats! go Sox!), so George Washington’s visit also added a personal touch. George presented Scott with tickets to a Fourth of July Nats/Red Sox game as the DJ cued up “Sweet Caroline” (the song after which Scott’s elder daughter is named). The flower girl, Kristalyn’s niece, fell in love with Giant George and wanted to dance with him all night. What memorable moments! We love that they incorporated such a fun element that is so unique to Washington, DC and meant so much to them.
