Rameez and Ghania were married in a three day long celebration, which is common in Pakistani culture. The Mendhi, Nikkah and Walima each had their own unique outfits, venue, and food, thereby developing a different vibe each day. The Mendhi is often filled with colorful wedding sari’s and dancing performances. For their Nikkah, the official wedding ceremony, they chose a mosque; there is none more decorated and adorned than the Diyanet Center of America. The classic gold and red outfits worn by the bride and groom played well against the mosque environment.
For the Walima, the reception, the couple wanted a contemporary Maryland wedding venue that would be an unfamiliar choice. They chose to host this at The Hotel at the University of Maryland, which opened in 2017. The atmosphere in the ballroom reception was classy and the decorations and outfits were able to really shine in the space. For the couple, the most memorable moment of the weekend was the Nikkah. The presence of family and friends, the ambiance in the mosque, and the gravity of marriage were all contributing factors to the sweetness of the moment.
