Glam Women in the Arts Wedding
July 3, 2018 Alex Hamilton

After 2 years of causally running into one another at various get togethers hosted by mutual friends, Melanie and Nick finally started dating after one epic rainy night that involved lost windshield wipers and numerous car troubles. Six and a half years later, Nick finally proposed to Mel in Ireland. It was obviously fate as there was a Capitals jersey on the wall of the pub where Nick proposed. This would later come into play for their DC wedding reception as well. Thank you to  Michelle Lindsay Photography for sharing this National Museum of Women in the Arts wedding with us today.

For Melanie and Nick, the wedding day was a true celebration of blending of families.  It was a multi-cultural affair; it incorporated Melanie’s Filipino traditions with a nod to the Irish in Nick’s background. This couple planned every detail of the day, including many personalized and custom elements. From the gold and white paper goods, to the gold sequin bridesmaids’ dresses, to Melanie’s custom designed veil. Each side of the family provided something special and unique for the couple and guests to enjoy. The homemade desserts were even provided by the bride’s uncle and the groom’s mother.

In addition to the beautiful details, Melanie had a trick up her sleeve. She planned a pretty epic surprise for her new hubby. As both her and Nick are huge Washington Capitals fans, Melanie wanted to surprise Nick with a special guest at their reception – Slapshot of the Washington Capitals!  We think he is best party crasher you could ever hope for!
