Sometimes meeting the love of your life is all about timing. For the couple in today’s Virginia engagement session, Colby and Amanda, that’s definitely true; it was just meant to be! These two lovebirds met in Lexington, Kentucky at their local dog park in 2014. They obviously both had dogs, which was a great conversation starter. Through chatting, they found out that they had gone to the same college (Eastern Kentucky University) and had even graduated with the same degree! They think they had to have seen each other in the hallway or around campus but had never met before. Colby is a few years older than Amanda so they never had the same classes, but what a coincidence! As if they wasn’t enough, they also found out they had both recently moved to Lexington for new “grown up” jobs and lived only two miles apart.
After discovering they had so much in common Colby asked Amanda on an official date at a place called Pazzos. Although she doesn’t like Pazzos, she didn’t tell him she that until a few months later! Luckily, it didn’t matter because they laughed and talked the entire time. Amanda recalls Colby saying “I feel like I’ve known you for years” towards the end of the dinner before he told her he wanted to see her again, and the rest is history. The pair wanted to do an engagement session in the Dogwood Trees and so they waited months for them to bloom. We think it was well worth the wait! What is your proposal story? We both love skiing. I invited my sister and her boyfriend up for the weekend in January 2018 and the four of us went skiing at Winterplace Resort. After a day of skiing Colby took me to the side. He proposed right there on the top of the mountain it was perfect. The day was perfect. My sister and her boyfriend were actually hiding taking pictures. After that we went back to the lodge where he had successfully invited my parents (who live in WV) and his parents (who live in Kentucky) to meet us for the weekend to help celebrate. He had planned a dinner for all of us after the engagement! It was so nice having our family there to celebrate and support us.
