Steve and Lucia first met online in 2014 and despite the two-hour distance between her home in Delaware and his in Virginia, it magically worked. Visit after visit deepened their connection and they fell in love. Steve was planning a private, romantic proposal on a local nature trail; however, we all know some things don’t always go as planned. Luckily for these two, it wasn’t because of an unforeseen circumstances. Steve was just too excited! He was “so bursting to propose” that he just couldn’t wait. While the two were at home lounging in their living room, he jumped up in a fit of spontaneity and popped the question. She said yes immediately! This adorable proposal led to today’s Chinese American wedding at Stone Mansion. Thank you to Natalie of Designed Perfectly Events for sharing this wedding with us today!
Steve and Lucia seriously considered not having a full blown, formal wedding. Lucky for us, at the urging of the bride’s daughter Fiona, the pair decided to hold a real wedding. According to the couple, it was the best decision they ever made; for them, the joyfulness of that day will resonate forever. Their Virginia wedding was unique for its fusion of Chinese and classical American themes: the food, decor, and music playlist all combined Chinese and American elements. About half of the 30 attendees were Chinese and two, including Lucia’s sister, flew all the way from Chengdu, China to attend. In their color story Steve and Lucia included the Chinese red with touched of pink, cream and gold to compliment. The couple wanted a festive yet intimate feel and ensure their guests from both cultures felt welcomed.
