Decatur House DC Wedding
May 17, 2018 Alex Hamilton
At their Decatur House DC wedding, just steps from the bride’s former workplace, the White House, friends and family celebrated this quintessential Washingtonian couple’s nuptials and stunning spring celebration. Jenni and David’s ceremony took place under a lush floral chuppah, that later became an entrance arch to the tent for dinner. The officiant, a family friend, brought both the bride and groom’s religions into the ceremony. The couples’ love of food (especially desserts) was used as inspiration to create a delicious and unique escort card display. The “eat dessert first” featured a cupcake for each guest with their name and table number. Cocktail hour was topped off with a roaming raw bar and, of course, a specialty cocktail or two.
Transitioning to back to the tent for dinner, a sea blue wedding color story and teal accents complimented the organic, springy and elegant flowers. At tables featuring mixed textures of lace, pressed glass and a geometric charger, the guests dinned on some of the couple’s favorite foods. Following dinner, they hit the dance floor or the bourbon and cigar bar. The weekend was accented with details honoring the couple’s true love: their dogs. While the two giant dogs (a great Pyrenees and a Bernese mountain dog) could not be there in person their presence was felt. Details included adorable hand decorated cookies (our favorite!). In addition, they featured their engagement photos, starring their dogs. The pups were dressed as bride and groom! How sweet is that?! Thank you to A. Dominick Events and Jodi and Kurt Photography for sharing this Decatur House wedding with us today!
