Top Of The Hay DC Wedding
April 30, 2018 Tabitha

Although neither Rich nor Liv are from Washington DC, they knew that was where they wanted to get married. They felt that so much of their love story happened in this great city; their first date, their first home, and their engagement. We’re happy they did because we get to feature their beautiful DC wedding. Early into their engagement they knew they wanted to have their ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Matthews the Apostle. They wanted their reception somewhere that showcased their love of DC. The Hay Adams is a fantastic DC wedding venue; it was a no-brainer!  As two Gettysburg College grads, they also hoped to share details that were reminiscent of their early years; Gettysburg College “World Famous” Chocolate Chip Cookies as a late night snack, a cocktail hour filled with a modern take on the college’s colors, ginger jar blue and orange dahlias, and vintage Gettysburg stamps on their wedding invitations. Thank you to A. Dominick Events for sharing this DC Hay Adams Wedding with us today.

What was your favorite moment of the wedding day?: It’s hard to choose one moment when you have family like ours and a team like A. Dominick Events. In the most sincerest way possible, my parents would easily hire this team to run our lives because the weekend went (and the months leading up to it) so perfectly. It wasn’t without tears (my family feels big). But from the rehearsal dinner to the farewell brunch, we loved every minute of it.

If I had to call out one moment, it would probably be climbing into the limo following the ceremony. As Rich, my dress, and I piled into the limo we were greeted by a big smile and Audrey Hepburn’s Moon River on the radio. We looked at each other surprised; a song I had sung at my senior choir performance, it was something we had struggled to incorporate into the wedding itself. We weren’t able to use it in the church and it didn’t feel like the right tone for our first dance. But here it was welcoming us; serendipity at its finest.
