Whimsical Countryside Virginia Wedding
March 7, 2018 Tabitha

Holly and Scott’s Boonsboro Country Club affair was a quintessentially Southern wedding design in every way. Family-oriented and heartfelt, the day focused on the joining of Holly’s and Scott’s families and on celebrating their love for one another. The Lynchburg wedding ceremony location’s gorgeous grounds and rolling hills served as a perfect backdrop for the festivities. The pair exchanged their vows beneath a beautiful old oak tree adorned with chandeliers and draping flowers. We love how this turned out. Talk about swoon worthy! Delicate, slightly overgrown florals paired with a dusty mocha and periwinkle color palette lent a vintage, ethereal feel to Holly and Scott’s sun-kissed Virginia nuptials. We could not be more obsessed with the bride’s adorable floral crown and overflowing bridal bouquet. Thank you to Molly Lichten Photography for sharing this Lynchburg wedding day with us via Matchology!

Tell us your proposal story “Scott and I had been dating a little over a year. It was around Christmastime, and Scott had been playing hockey in Illinois, while I was working in Virginia. I didn’t think he was going to be able to make it back in time for Christmas and we were planning on seeing each other after, when he had a break. He drove all night and surprised me on Christmas Eve.

It was unusually warm for Christmas Eve and he asked if I wanted to go hiking up Sharp Top Mountain, which was something we always liked to do together in the summer. It was one of our first dates together. I thought it was strange that he wanted to go hiking on Christmas Eve, but I went anyways. We made it to the top and he asked me to open an early Christmas present. It was a chalkboard he had painted. On one side it said, ‘I love you.’ He told me to flip it over and the other side said ‘Will you marry me?’ I was so surprised!”

Any DIY or handmade details? “I’m lucky to have some very talented family members. My cousin made all of the wooden signs and hand-painted them. One of my other cousins was the videographer and he did such a phenomenal job. My bouquet was wrapped in lace from my mom’s wedding dress, which was something that was very special to me. “

“The table decorations we chose were very vintage and eclectic. Instead of using table numbers, we named each of the tables after special places we had been together, or family members that we wished could be there. We wrote a paragraph about what they meant to us. I had them all put in old vintage frames and kept them. I liked that idea better because it was meaningful; it was something that I could keep forever to remember the day. “
