DC Wedding Day Transportation Tips
November 7, 2017 Alex Hamilton

Today we’re talking wedding transportation. We know it’s not a super sexy topic, but it is one that you have to consider. There are so many questions to ask. Have you thought about how you will be arriving to your Washington DC area wedding? How are your guests traveling from your ceremony to your reception? Are you having a grand exit complete with a getaway vehicle? If not, how exactly are you getting from your reception to your hotel or home? Do you prefer form and function? We have some thoughts on all those! Travel around the city in style with our suggestions below.

Vintage and Antique Cars

Can this be considered as your something old? There’s nothing like a classic, luxury car to really add a little glam and style to your wedding! We love these for end of the night getaways. They make for a really amazing photo op and all of your guests will be oohing and aahing over your choice. If you go with one of these for a grand entrance or exit, make sure your photographer is nearby. This is especially important if you choose a fancy car for an end of the night getaway vehicle. Sometimes your photographer isn’t contracted to stay until the end of the party. Make sure they are so they can get a fab photo!

Uber

Uber is a great way to get from place to place quickly as a bride and groom or bridal party. It ensures that you don’t have to worry about parking or partying! Although an uber might not be a super glamorous ride, it might be your quickest and safest option when attempting to get from place to place.

Rickshaws + Pedicabs

Eco-friendly and cozy, consider getting whisked away in a pedicab! Make a playful getaway in the city with a modern ride on a bike taxi for a memorable exit. You might want to try to schedule this ahead of time if possible. You don’t want to be caught waiting to stumble upon one of these, especially on wedding weekend nights.

Horse Drawn Carriage

Talk about a truly fairytale wedding! Your stately affair will begin with an arrival fit for a princess. You can even arrange for a few carriages to accommodate your entire wedding party for a truly royal affair. Our advice? Consider a fully enclosed carriage to provide protection from any yucky weather.

Shuttles and Buses

Shuttles are a perfect option for helping out-of-town guests get to and from. That way, you and your guests will have peace of mind about navigating an unfamiliar city and arriving on time! Charter buses and shuttles can usually accommodate up to 55-60 passengers and, with a couple of trips, can transport guests from a designated hotel to your wedding venue. This is also a great option for those wedding venues that are off the beaten path with no convenient hotels nearby. Trust us, your guests will thank you!

Limousine

Looking for something a little more classic? Try a limo! These can often accommodate a full bridal party, depending on your needs. It’s a great place for you all to celebrate on your wedding to the ceremony or reception. I mean, come on. Have you ever had a bad time in a limo? No way! Our favorite would have to be Reston Limousine. They have an amazing array of cars and impeccable service.
