8 Ways to Ask “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?”
September 5, 2017 Alex Hamilton

A couple of weeks ago we briefly mentioned the idea of “bridesmaid proposals” in our post about Onecklace jewelry (so cute, by the way!). We have had a lot of interest in the topic overall lately. Because of this, we decided to round up some of our favorite ways that brides can “pop the question” to all of their besties. Whether you decide to go with a funny card that basically explains your relationship perfectly or a small box of curated items that will tickle their fancy, these will you be my bridesmaid gifts can be a really great way to show your gals how much you love and appreciate them. As always, don’t forget to click on each photo to shop!

A Heartfelt Note – This might be one of my favorite options. In the age of texting, email, and even phone calls, the handwritten note has really gone by the wayside. I say bring it back! How much fun is it to get a beautiful letter in the mail? It’s so rare these days that it truly feels like a treat. Go pick out a card (we love the personalized cards above!) at your favorite stationary store and write a note telling your gal pal why you need her next to you on your wedding day. It’s a super personal way to let her know she’s important.

Curated Marigold and Gray Basket – We are so lucky to have Marigold and Gray as a part of our DC wedding vendor list here at United with Love! If you want to completely take the stress out of picking bridesmaid gifts, turn to them! Choose from their pre-designed gifts in their wedding gift collection or create your own concoction in their custom section. Whichever you choose, you can rest assured that you will be receiving beautifully crafted artisan gifts.

Champagne! – Honestly, the way to a lot of girls hearts is through a good glass of champagne! Pick up a bottle of each of your girls favorite vino – red, white, rose, bubble, whatever! – and place one of these adorable personalized labels on them! This is a simple idea that is sure to make her smile.

Greetabl Box – We are obsessed with these bridesmaid boxes! You choose a custom box and the perfect little gift for your gal and greetabl puts it all together. Include a personal note and some pictures that can be ripped off for keepsakes. We looove this aspect of the gift. It combines a nice gift with past memories and promises of more memories to come.

Emergency Kit – Okay, so maybe this one is a little for you and a little for her. This small emergency kit is SO handy and perfect to have on the wedding day. We all know weddings don’t always go as planned (although if you hire a DC area wedding planner, they’re sure to help!) so make sure your ladies are prepared for anything! Arm them with their very own emergency kits that are small enough to be stored in their purse on the day.

Personalized Jewelry – Who can say no to jewelry!? Choosing a personalized piece is great for asking someone to be your bridesmaid. Some girls might prefer their initials while another might want the date or place you two met. You can make them all have a similar look while truly personalizing them to different tastes. All of your ladies have distinct personalities so shouldn’t their jewelry reflect that? Picking a special one for each of your friends will really show your thoughtfulness and appreciation.

Take Them Out! – Take your ladies out to brunch or for mani/pedis at the spa and surprise them by popping the question! If you opt to do this as a group, this can be a good way for your future maids to get to know each other before the big day. A mimosa toast is always necessary in these situations, right?!

Scrapbook or Picture Album – Okay, okay, this may sound like an old school idea but it’s really not! Think of how many pictures you take with your girls? A lot? Exactly! And what do you do with them? Post them to Facebook and Instagram? That’s not a lot. Create a small memory book out of them for a really personal and sweet gift. Think it will take a ton of time? It won’t! We love these Photo Books from Artifact Uprising.

We hope one of these fun ideas will be perfect for you and your bridesmaids! Keep checking back for more wedding tips and advice on United with Love!
