UWL’s Favorite DC Area Urban Wedding Venues
January 18, 2017 Alex Hamilton

We are keeping the ball rolling with DC area wedding venues this week; next up is a list for the funkier crowd! We’re suckers for a unique wedding space and urban venues often offer us a non-traditional and fun atmosphere! Seriously, the below spaces are completely different from any others we have featured and we are so excited to share them with you today. From art galleries to lofts, old factories to dramatic raw space, we just can’t get enough of DC area urban wedding venues and we bet you won’t be able to either! Don’t forget to check out how some of our own UWL local real wedding couples have utilized some of these amazing spaces.

Blind Whino

Blind Whino

First of all, can we just acknowledge how AMAZING the exterior of Blind Whino is? Talk about amazing first look photos, bridal party photos, and more! The inside is even better. This venue truly oozes urban and we want to be best friends with any funky couple who chooses this venue. With graffiti walls and amazing art installations, Blind Whino is one of a kind. Please invite us to your smashing soiree there?

Eastern Market

The North Hall Event Space at Eastern Market makes was renovated in 2009 to create a modern vibe at one of the districts most historic landmarks! With 4,000 square feet of space, the historic ambiance with vaulted ceilings and arched windows will wow your guests! If you are looking for outdoor space as well, the Plaza is perfect for cocktail hour or your actual ceremony.

The Loft at 600 F

The Loft at 600 F

This urban venue is a hidden gem located in Chinatown/Penn Quarter; this super chic space that can be transformed to fit the wedding design of your dreams while wowing your guests! We love the brick walls and hardwood floors, comfy lounge furniture, and high ceilings present in this unique space. Three floors allow you to dream up the perfect design plan for your event. Their website contains floor plans (a must have when planning out your spatial strategy!) so you can easily decide which floors would be best suited to your soiree. AMP by Strathmore

AMP, a unique and contemporary venue is usually home to live music and season eats but makes for an amazing urban wedding venue. With floor to ceiling windows, Juliet balconies, and ample space, this venue, located in Maryland, can host a wedding with any vibe. Long View Gallery

Long View is a raw gallery space, a blank slate full of endless options for weddings.  If you are into an urban, chic setting in the heart of DC, then Long View is perfect for you. With indoor and outdoor space including an awesome alley for photos and a patio for an airy cocktail hour, you can’t go wrong at any time of year! Exposed brick, concrete floors and minimalistic design (except for the stunning art, of course) create a super urban, fun vibe.

Torpedo Factory

The Torpedo Factory Art Center provides a unique, industrial backdrop for your wedding. Located in the heart of quaint Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, the Art Center has an art-filled interior with public spaces for artists to work on their craft. With a full bottom floor for your ceremony and reception, a mezzanine for your cocktail hour and an outdoor brick patio with views of the Potomac River, this venue maintains the air of its former days as an actual torpedo factory! How cool is that?!
