Please join us this morning for Hanna and Andy’s lovely outdoor wedding in Virginia! This cute couple had a beautiful garden setting for their wedding ceremony in Sterling, Virginia at The Woodlands at Algonkian. They wanted their big day to feel relaxed, comfortable, and very personal and it looks like they pulled it off! Hanna and Andy’s rustic chic wedding ceremony was covered in purple hues – a must for this beautiful bride-to-be. And, there were lots of DIY wedding details to get excited about – like signs made with love by Hanna’s sister! But the guys were not forgotten either, they even wore matching Virginia Tech cufflinks to honor their school spirit. We adore a wedding party where the guys get to show off their style too! A special thanks to Anny. Photography for sharing these beautiful Washington DC area wedding photos with us!
From Hanna: I wanted an elegant affair, but it was also vital that our personality and who we are together was present in the surroundings of our wedding. Our wedding priority was comfort; everything we wore (especially shoes!) had to be comfortable, classic, and simple. My personal wedding day priority: no heels! I despise how uncomfortable heels are and when I attend weddings I always wish I brought along flats or flip flops. We had baskets of flip flops available for the ladies to take so that they could dance.
Royal purple is my favorite color and purple was the color we chose when we went to his homecoming dance in high school. Instead of robes, I got my bridesmaids sleep shirts; I wanted to get them something that they could use again rather than just a robe that has “bridesmaid” splashed all over it. All of the groomsmen and the groom wore converse and I wore Tom’s. Also, all the groomsmen went to Virginia Tech, so they all have VT cufflinks.
Our wedding ceremony officiant had to be my youth pastor – the wedding date would have changed if he was unavailable! The chalkboard program board for our wedding ceremony was made by my sister, who was also our wedding planner. We had the writing done by my other sister’s friend.
Our absolute favorite wedding day memory was when we went to take couple photos during the cocktail hour. We had two golf carts (one for photographers and one for us) and that time on the golf cart was the only time that day we had alone – it was by far my favorite time!
Congratulations to Hanna and Andy! Thank you for sharing your relaxed garden wedding ceremony with us. Stay tuned, up next we’re going to show you their pretty in purple indoor wedding reception!
