We love a little DIY for the wedding day and today we’ve got oodles of goodness from newlyweds, Erin and Austin, who hosted their private residence wedding in Virginia just at the start of summer. This wedding venue had very special meaning to the couple – it took place at Erin’s sister’s 100 year old farmhouse! With a pretty pale palette and roses to romance their wedding guests, Erin and Austin wove in blues, greens, and even lavenders to create a stunning outdoor wedding ceremony – the bride even wore blue shoes for her something blue! Love Knot Photo captured all the touching moments (including a game of pick up basketball) and plenty of pretty details to inspire your big day too!
From Erin: Austin and I had a vision of what we wanted our wedding to feel like. We wanted to have a fun, breezy party with touches that fit our personalities and passions. We are open, loving, family people who like to have a good time and the decision to have the wedding in the expansive front yard of my sister’s 100 year old farmhouse set the stage. Each of our family members contributed, and it made for such a unique and special feel to our day. I envisioned a verdant evening with a short, sweet ceremony followed by a lot of dancing and laughter at the wedding reception. With the wedding ceremony on an open knoll back dropped by trees, our reception under a spectacular three-point tent in the front yard of my sister’s beautiful home, and an excellent band, we achieved our hopes of a relaxed, joyful, elegant wedding day.
My main priorities were a great band and an excellent photographer. Austin’s priorities were to brew his own beer for the wedding and to “have everyone there.”
Our favorite moment of the wedding was during our ceremony when our officiant (and dear friend) asked us to turn around and witness the support and excitement of all of our wedding guests, standing and cheering for us. The feeling we got from being in that tidal wave of love is a wedding memory we will always cherish.
Congratulations to Erin + Austin! Thank you for sharing your sweet outdoor wedding ceremony with us! Stay tuned, up next we’re going to show you their beautiful tented wedding reception at a private estate.
