Are you ready for even more summery goodness from Sara and Chris’ wedding in Maryland? (But before you go on, you will just have to check out their traditional wedding ceremony first!) Their classic summer wedding, captured by Melissa Tuck Photography, came with plenty of inspiration from the dreamy outdoor cocktail space to the simply stunning wedding cake. And their grand exit with golden pom-poms has the cheerleader in me jumping for joy!
From Sara: Oxon Hill Manor is such a beautiful venue with lush gardens, elaborate rooms, and a huge terrace perfect for cocktails under the stars.
We brought in elements that complimented the decor and setting of the venue, which really guided my vision for the whole event. The color palatte, mint green, peach and gold, were found in the wallpaper and trims of the rooms. Being August, I wanted to stick with colors and textures that were light and cool and airy. I think we accomplished that through the tone and fabric of the bridesmaids dresses, the ethereal floral arrangements, and billowy tent drapings.
During the reception, we did a Coors Light toast in memory of my father (it was his favorite beverage of choice). Another fun personal touch was our signature cocktail – a Long Island Sweet Tea – which was a nod to our home states. Chris is from New York, and I grew up in North Carolina.
Sara’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:
The biggest planning hurdle for me was selecting the venue. Don’t overwhelm yourselves by viewing too many sites, or you’ll never be able to make a decision!
