Classic Summer Wedding Reception in Virginia: Christina + Joe
August 11, 2014 admin

Hello and welcome back to the second half of Christina and Joe’s preppy wedding in Virginia. Inspired by their country club venue, this dog-loving duo wanted to pair fresh blue and green stylings with a dog motif modeled after Christina’s parents’ dog! I also love that they made a donation to their favorite, local dog rescue charity in place of favors – great idea! Their summer wedding was all kinds of lovely, thanks to these pretty pictures from Photography By Marirosa. But wait, before you go on though, be sure to check out their wedding ceremony first!

From Christina: Since we had our reception at WGCC, I wanted to have a preppy, elegant, country-club feel. With how the flowers, preppy fabric runners, lanterns and candles all came together, it had a romantic and intimate feel as well. Our colors were moss green, navy blue, and white.

We wanted to have photos of all the loving and lasting marriages in our families. So I gathered up the wedding pictures of maternal and paternal grandparents on each side as well as our parents’ wedding pictures and displayed them in a variety of silver frames. This was also a nice way to display photos of the grandparents that we wish had been with us that day. It turned out so special.

Joe’s mother handmade our table runners, using navy and white fabric I picked out.

To go with our dog theme, we incorporated a little silhouette of my parent’s dog, Sadie, into our invitation suite, signs, and menu. We also made a donation to The Washington Animal Rescue League in DC in lieu of favors. That is where we adopted our dog, Roxy, from!

Christina’s wedding planning advice for other DC-area couples:

Having a wedding planner for the day of and to keep you on track through the process is very helpful. I still planned everything, but it is so nice to have someone be a point of contact for the wedding weekend and run the show the day of the wedding. Ours made our big day totally stress-free! Make your own choices on who you use for your vendors, your wedding planner will offer suggestions, but do your own research as well.
