Do you know what’s better than one beautiful wedding? Two beautiful weddings! That’s right, two. Erin and Devinder had their hearts set on two celebrations in one day – a traditional Sikh ceremony, a traditional Christian ceremony and a lunch reception in between (in addition to an evening reception that you’ll see later this morning!). CINEMATICbyDavidM was on hand to capture the vibrant cultural touches and the modern elegance of their union that will have you swooning all morning! And make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom and watch their wedding video trailer from Joel Salindong Video.
From Erin: We wanted our wedding to reflect the blending of two cultures. Specifically, we wanted our wedding to feel like we were “one-family” coming together to celebrate. We continuously called our enormous wedding weekend a “multicultural affair” where we wanted both Indian and American traditions. We were convinced we could accomplish both weddings in the same day and we did just that!
Our main priority was unifying our multiple events into one gigantic wedding weekend. To accomplish this, we had custom made invitations that had over five different inserts for each wedding event. It was truly like a puzzle to put them together!
We had two weddings in one day! We started our morning off with a traditional Sikh Indian wedding. We had a baraat outside where my husband came in on a white horse surrounding by all our friends and family. We then had a traditional milni (exchange of garlands) and Sikh wedding ceremony.
During our lunch reception, we had what we called a “costume change.” The entire bridal party changed outfits to prepare for the evening. Later that same day, we had a Christian ceremony followed by an American-style formal reception.
My mother passed away several years ago. It was very important to me that we incorporate special touches at our wedding to honor her. I wore a special charm attached to my bridal bouquet. It had a picture of my own mother in her wedding dress from when my parents were married. I felt like she was with me the whole day whenever I looked at my bouquet. I am confident she was the guardian angel looking down upon us that day so that everything went perfectly!
