For all you DMV wedding lovers out there who, like me, adore soft and romantic pastel colors, Jenna and Mike’s Maryland wedding reception is for you. (Be sure to check out their elegant, outdoor Jewish wedding ceremony!) Inspired by where Jenna and Mike first fell in love, Engaging Affairs brought the beach to the incredibly stunning Congressional Country Club. Guests sipped on Blue Hawaiians, their specialty cocktail, while taking in the soft blue elegance and reggae music all beautifully captured by k. thompson photography.
From Jenna: When I envisioned our wedding, I dreamt of an enchanted forest with a soft romantic feel. We were engaged in Disneyworld and I wanted to bring that feeling of magic into our wedding. The one thing I knew I wanted was trees! We worked with our florist to design a romantic setting complete with trees, large lanterns, floating candles, and lots of beautiful flowers.
The venue was our main priority. We wanted a venue that felt unique, romantic, and had outdoor space for the ceremony and for our guests to spend time during the reception. When we first saw Congressional Country Club, we knew we had found it. From the dramatic architecture of the ballroom to the sweeping views of the golf course, to the beautiful arched windows in the sunroom, it just felt right.
Jenna’s wedding planning advice to other DC area couples:
Take time at the wedding to sit back with your new spouse and just take it all in. This advice was given to us before our wedding and we are so happy we followed it. Throughout the night, we picked moments to sit back, look around the room, and just appreciate that this is the only time in our lives we will be surrounded by all of our loved ones who are simply there to celebrate love.
