At-Home Bridal Dress Shopping in the DC Area
January 16, 2014 admin

Good morning DC wedding lovers! What is the most fun part about planning a wedding?? Finding a dress, of course! Until you get into the dress shopping process and you find that it can be a little overwhelming. Let me introduce brides-to-be in the Washington DC area to a new bridal dress shopping experience: At-home bridal styling from the ladies at P.Lawrence Bridals and Formals.

Yup, they come to your house! Grab your girlfriends and get relaxed, because they bring it all right to you. Even better news is that they are giving away an at-home bridal styling package. (That’s a $350 value! I told you it was a good day!) We have the owners and bridal stylists of P.Lawrence Bridals and Formals, Dixie and Mydanh (pronounced Mee-en) here today to give us some dress shopping tips and tell us about the giveaway…

It seems like the moment you get engaged, you innately know that your proverbial right of passage into bridal bliss starts with your gown fitting. Getting into that gown means that it is real; your moment has come! You round up your friends and visit a shop or two, and bask in the oohs and aahs of your friends. What if you could have an atelier bring you a selection of gowns, some champagne and treats, and give you all of the exclusivity that you can imagine, within the comfort of your home? P.Lawrence Bridals and Formals has pioneered this concept in the DMV area.  Along with ongoing city wide pop-up boutiques, we are changing the traditional bridal fitting experience into something new and exciting.

We have some advice for your bridal dress fitting, so that you can get the most out of this special experience:

  • Wear nude undergarments (and a corset if necessary).
  • No oily lotions, which might ruin a sample gown.
  • No shoes, unless they are the ones you plan on wearing on your wedding day.
  • If you are on a tight budget, ask your consultants about purchasing the sample dress.
  • A good stylist can make a more frugal gown look priceless with the right accessories.
  • Bring a hair tie; you would be surprised how different gowns look with your hair up or down.
  • Do not try dresses you would never wear “just for fun.” Usually your time will be limited, so take it seriously.
  • Do not come with an entourage. Bring one or two besties that are mindful that this is your wedding and not theirs.
  • Learn about your body, and how to highlight your best features
  • Select a style that you love, but be open to trying on different ones. It’s like the same concept of finding your perfect mate. You gotta kiss a couple of frogs before you find your Prince Charming!
  • Your experience while finding “the dress” is just as important as finding the dress. Don’t settle for bad customer service..
