Hello and welcome back to Shahanna and Brian’s wedding in Virginia! If you missed their wedding ceremony, be sure to check out first. For their reception, Shahanna got her craft on and DIY’d so many things – from the signs, paper goods and homemade cookie favors! Carley Rehberg Photography was there to capture all of the great moments – and that super cute ring bearer – and all of those fun little details that Shahanna worked so hard on!
From Shahanna: As one of the favors I made oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies with thank you notes on the bags for the guest take with them..a nice little homemade treat for the ride home. All of the decor (minus the flowers) were made be me…I painted the table numbers, made the bar signs and ribbon wands.
From Shahanna: Having children in the wedding can be risky..will they cry, refuse to go down the aisle, throw a fit, etc. But we maintained our no worries, stress-free motto and said if they freak out and don’t want to walk down the aisle then they don’t have to. We are so glad they were able to be a special part of our day and they had the best time doing it.
Shahanna’s advice for other couples in the DC area:
Visit local bridal shows. I found almost all of my vendors at one of the many bridal shows. If you are having issues finding a particular vendor, asks for recommendation from your vendors; chances are they know someone who can provide the service you are looking for.
As treat, we have their wedding trailer from Two Guys Production. Shahanna had such great things to say about their video, so I’ll let her take it away, here:
“The venue, catering & photography were our big expenses…but our splurge would be the videography. We didn’t really think it would be something we wanted or needed. But afterwards we are SO glad we went ahead with it! The trailer was great for our family who didn’t make it to the wedding to be able to share in the day. It will also we some in years to come we can look back at.”
