Lately, I’ve been falling head over heels for hand illustrated wedding paper goods. Menus, maps, save the dates, you name it, I just can’t get enough of the whimsy and beauty they bring! Lucky for us, the DMV is home to many fabulous local wedding stationery designers and I’m excited to say that Jolly Edition is the latest addition to our area’s wedding talent! I am so charmed by the hand painted designs and illustrations that are uniquely tailored for each wedding. Take a look at this stunning “Mad Men” inspired invitation suite and portrait created for Laura and Thomas’ Virginia garden wedding. Owners and designers Laura and Tom tell us a little more about these paper pretties…
From Laura and Tom: Laura’s inspiration for her bouquet was Grace Kelly’s Lily of the Valley with a French flower market reference thrown in for good measure. A vintage, French feel with a clean, simple approach and flourishes were used for that quintessentially French feel.
The stationery had to communicate the specifics of the day. Where to park, attire, local accommodation and of course the venue! The personality of the stationery came from the couple and their ideas. Jolly Edition worked with Laura to research and plan their aesthetic for their big day and using this they illustrated each flower, each garment and specific detail of their big day into their custom illustration and their stationery.
Thank you Tina for sharing your beautiful work! If you’re looking for creative and custom hand illustrated wedding stationery and portraits, be sure to check out Jolly Edition.
