I don’t think I can stress enough how much I love seeing marriage proposals caught on camera with a secret photographer. They are so utterly romantic, I can’t stand it! Photographer Leigh Ann of Saperstone Studios documented this entire Washington DC proposal and it’s just the sweetest thing ever. After Liz and Jay’s marriage proposal was secretly captured on camera, they continued their celebration of love with a mini-engagement session. Read on for more about the proposal story from Liz herself!
From Liz: I had wanted to go to the cherry blossom festival the day before we were going to head back to Long Island for Easter because I had off from work that day. Jason reluctantly agreed (which I expected because he doesn’t like that type of thing) but when they weren’t blooming yet, he came up with this day date in Georgetown-going for a walk and then out to dinner. I thought it was a little strange he came up with this plan on his own (again, walking through a garden isn’t his thing) but went along with it because I wanted to kick off our long weekend early.
When we arrived at the garden, we started walking around and Jason stopped where some trees were in bloom and he proposed. I was so surprised and excited that I forgot to put the ring on. Quietly, photographers were taking pictures of the whole proposal.
As soon as I said “yes,” I heard clicking and saw flashes and told Jason that someone was taking pictures of us. He said “I know… I hired them to do that.” Jason told me he had hired them to take not only pictures of the proposal but engagement pictures as well. It was a perfect plan because we were both so happy and excited and neither of us could stop smiling the rest of the day.
Congratulations Liz and Jay!
