We’re back with part two of Will and Kevin’s wedding (Don’t miss their intimate Washington DC wedding ceremony!), and it happens to be one of the most stunning at-home wedding receptions I have ever laid eyes on! Located on the water in Annapolis, Will and Kevin worked to bring a casual, elegant and Southern-inspired feel to the backyard of Kevin’s parents’ home and boy did they achieve it! Antique lights strung above, natural linens, an unbelievable escort card display, luxurious tables… oh, I could go on! Instead, why don’t you just got lost in the beautiful photos from Eli Weddings with me?
From Kevin: We worked really hard designing and planning the reception—Will and I picked out everything, the flowers, the furniture, the tableware, linen, and lights. It was so nice to see everything come together. We’re very thankful that EVOKE helped us coordinate the last few weeks and the big day though. Jeannette Tavares was great!
From Will: Before we even started planning, we knew two things were very important to us: the food and decor. Our caterer, Rouge, hit it out of the park for our reception and worked with us on a custom menu covering everything from a welcoming cocktail to passed hors d’oeuvres, a three course dinner, and a late night snack. We definitely splurged on flowers and lighting—once Kevin showed me the antique string lights there was no turning back. Amaryllis did the flowers for both the ceremony and the reception. Rick’s creations were absolutely stunning.
Our wedding cake at the reception was made my Will’s best man’s father, Rene Weisz. The Weisz’s are very close friends. We were really touched—it was an amazing cake and a tremendous gesture. Rene was trained in Germany as chef and he used to run a bakery in DC with his wife Nikki.
Will and Kevin’s advice to other DC-area couples:
If you’re not or can’t be deeply invested in all the details, hire a planner! We both work and travel a lot so having EVOKE help coordinate and double check things was a tremendous timesaver and it alleviated a lot of stress! There are so many decisions to make when planning your ceremony and reception. Even though Kevin and I have similar tastes and preferences, we went into planning having decided what aspects were more important to whom and then let each other make final decisions as appropriate (Kevin on decor and entertainment; Will on clothes, food, and the invitations). I think this cut down a lot of the back and forth and made our lives a lot easier.
