I can’t stop adding pictures by Kirsten Marie Photography to this post from Ashley and Frankie’s amazingly modern and super fun wedding in Washington DC! Trust me when you see their ceremony and the reception that is coming later in the morning, you will know what I mean. From the bright pops of yellow and red, mixed with the muted grays to the DIY touches to the paper airplane ceremony backdrop (which also doubled as reception decor – money saving alert!), I can’t decide what I love the most about their high school sweetheart inspired wedding. And, I can’t get enough of their super chic wedding party! I’ll let you just enjoy the fun yourself!
From Ashley: We wanted our wedding to feel like a big party, with fun bright colors and a laid back atmosphere. We drew inspiration from the fact that we started dating in high school, and you can see that with the chalkboard props, our paper airplane backdrop, and other small touches.
Our main splurge came as a result of our insistence on getting married in DC proper, so that we could show off where we have lived for the past several years to our family and friends from out of town.
The whole day was so much fun, but as a writer at heart what I will never forget is our wedding ceremony. We aimed for a ceremony that was heartfelt and funny and as it was read out loud to our guests, their laughter only added to the joy of the moment.
