We’re easing you into summer with this beautiful at-home Virginia wedding from Ever After Visuals. There’s something really special about weddings at private residences, in this case the groom’s family home, and Shireen and Khalil’s is no exception. Shireen donned the sweetest dress and bridal accessories and headed down the colorfully lined aisle to meet her husband-to-be! And the pops of color don’t end there folks, stay tuned for more (plus fun cultural details) at their reception!
From Shireen: We wanted to have a simple, elegant wedding which reflects our heritage, and at the same time for people to have a slamming good time. To do this we went classical on some things like table linens, but then went free-for-all with the colors of flowers. We struck a balance between classical choices and very personal, fun choices– I think this allowed everyone to feel relaxed and enjoy themselves.
We included a lot of family and friends in the actual ceremony– both my parents walked me down the aisle, a high school friend of mine who has since been ordained performed the ceremony, two of our friends played guitar for the ceremony music, Khalil’s sister read “Epithalamium” by Pablo Neruda, and my sister sang “La Vie en Rose” with an improvised Jazz twist half way through.
Also, despite our huge guest numbers– we only invited people who know us and our families personally, so it created an atmosphere of familiarity and joviality. In fact, guests clapped for each bridesmaid/groomsman couple that walked down the aisle!
