It’s DIY wedding time again! This time I’m helping you add a special and very local detail to your welcome bags! It’s always nice to have a little something to welcome your guests for their hotel stay: a welcome bag, some sweet treats, or even a succulent to add hominess to the room! (Don’t miss our tips for out of town bags!) Whatever you choose, these easy peasy DIY “Welcome to Washington” flags are the perfect finishing touch. We’re so lucky that calligrapher extraordinaire Arney Walker created a gorgeous wooden stamp for us in her hand lettering that you can purchase too. This stamp is so versatile that you could use to stamp bags, boxes, ribbons, programs and whatever else your heart desires!

Scissors or an X-acto knife
Double Stick Tape
Cut your cardstock into 1 1/4″ wide strips and cut out a triangle in one end to form a flag shape. Now get out your stamp and ink pad and carefully stamp each flag. Try your best to center the stamp on the flag shape, but leave about an extra half inch on the straight side of your flag. Let the ink dry completely.
Once the ink is dry, place a piece of double stick tape on the straight (i.e. not notched) end of your flag, then fold it over a bamboo skewer and press to secure.
That’s it! Pop these flag in a sweet succulent to brighten up the guest’s hotel stay or stick it in your welcome bags. A little extra welcome touch goes a long way!
