Washington DC Wedding Reception: Rachael + Joe
February 6, 2013 admin

Welcome back for part two of Rachael and Joe’s wedding from Spence Photographics, where we move up to a rooftop overlooking our beloved city! The red, white and (navy) blue palette continued (Did you see their wedding ceremony?) in everything from the decor to the drinks and their love for DC made itself known too. Their table numbers were photographs of them in front of their favorite landmarks! Though the dinner and dancing (foxtrot!) happened under a sophisticated tent, their lounge and ice cream cart just outside are what really caught my eye!

From Rachael: We had our first date in D.C. (exactly 6 years before our wedding day) and visit the city often. We incorporated our love for D.C. in our venue, our colors and table numbers. Eeach table was actually a picture of us in front of a D.C. landmark.

While our ceremony at Holy Rosary Church was very important to us, so was letting loose at the reception – dancing, eating “upscale” bbq, and being silly at the silly station – every detail we feel represented us, but also the friends and family we love!

Our first dance was a favorite moment of mine! We danced the foxtrot to Lovely Day by Bill Withers, after I had a quick wardrobe change – adding a strap to my dress and a matching flower in my hair.

Rachael’s advice to other DC-area couples:

Always work with people that you have a good feeling from off the bat. Those people who will help you and offer suggestions when the going gets tough – budget issues, weather issues, etc. We had a great team of vendors around us working hard to make sure every detail went off without a hitch!
