Check out those hot pink peonies! Be still, my peony loving heart. Laura and Colin had a simple Washington DC wedding, photographed by Liz and Ryan, with pops of that vibrant color brought in just through their flowers. I love Laura’s sweet dedication to her mom, and hometown of Barcelona. It’s those small details that really stand out in this classic, elegant affair, and the family-made ones that stand out in their reception (Up next so check back later this morning!).
From Laura: Simple and elegant, a wedding just about us. We wanted a wedding that was just about us getting married and that showed our personalities. Colin choose his tie pink so we decided to make that our color. Inspiration came from Pinterest and Etsy and was translated into reality by our small budget.
My favorite detail was my dress, and the fact that I was able to find it in my home town of Barcelona. The dress was from a designer, Rosa Clara, I have admired since I was a little girl, and it was a dream of mine to wear a wedding dress from her at my wedding.
A favorite memory was walking together in the gardens before the ceremony during our first look pictures.
I was able to remember my mom — who passed away when I was a young girl — in a special way with her picture close to me, in my bouquet, and her being mentioned by our officiant, my sister and by me, I felt like she was a part of the day too.
Having the wedding so personalized and tailored to us as a couple was the best. We didn’t follow any traditions that didn’t mean something to us — for example there was no bridal party or best man. A good friend also served as our officiant, which made the ceremony more personal and happy.

My mother passed away 4 years ago. I’m so sad she will not be with me next year when I say “I do”. This is a phenomenal example of a way to keep her spirit with me while I make this journey into matrimony. Thank you for sharing.
