We’re back with the colorful part two of Lori and Will’s Virginia wedding from It’s Your Moment. Check out their outdoor wedding ceremony first! They had so many fun, interactive elements in their reception, I don’t know where to start! I love the idea of turning cocktail napkins into wedding trivia and having guests sign letters to hang in the newlywed’s home some day. Of course, the color-fest continued and if you’re wondering “How could they have a plain white wedding cake!?” Don’t worry, it was funfetti inside!
From Lori: I’ve never felt so much love, love for and from my husband, love from my parents and family, love from my friends – You really have to step back and realize how amazing it is – and it stays with you after. The best part was having all of these people that we love so much in one place to celbrate with us – it’s really special. During the anticipation and planning of the wedding you don’t even realize how overwhelming it is going to be to have all of these people that you love in one place – it’s so awesome!
We did a lot of projects ourselves including the invitations, favors, program fans, place cards and signs. One of my favorite details was our ‘guest book’ – two painted letter D’s for our last name (well one “D” and one “d” to be exact) that everyone signed – we’re excited to have these hang in our house forever.
My favorite moment was our first dance to Plain White T’s 1, 2, 3, 4 – it was a moment of joy, celebration and love.
We also had other personal touches such as a bluegrass band, bonfires by the lake, celtic music played by violin and guitar and all beatles music during the ceremony, a cookie table and a funfetti cake!
We also had to share just a few peeks at their pre-wedding bash!
Lori’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Have a planner – Rebecca was amazing and kept us on budget and on track. Make lists and carry them everywhere. Make it personal and make it unique, it’s your day after all.
