She’s finally found the one, but before she becomes a Mrs. there comes her one last fling with single life before the ring – and it’s your job to send her off in style! A bachelorette party, typically hosted by the maid of honor (or even a bridesmaid, close friend, family member), is the bride’s last night out with her best gal pals. If you’ll be playing hostess or hoping to give your bridal party a few ideas, then fear not because you’ve come to the right place! We’ve rounded up a few ideas for traditional bachelorette parties in the Washington, DC metro area – meaning, ideas for the laid-back bride-to-be looking to end her single life with a low-key and relaxing time with her girls!

Cooking Class
If the bride-to-be is a total foodie, then an engaging and delicious cooking class at CulinAerie, in downtown DC, is a perfect choice for a non-traditional bachelorette party. Avid bakers and cooks alike will be invited to a little friendly competition and camaraderie before the big day. Bon Appetit!
Work Out
For the work out buff, there are few gyms, yoga studios and exercise locations that offer bachelorette party discounts for groups. Try the Bar Method in DC where the bride gets a discount for classes leading up to the wedding plus a class with her ladies for her bachelorette party. The Bar Method is an amazing workout, so might we suggest this as a day before, not a day-after, activity!

Remember, choose a theme and party based on the bride’s style. If she isn’t into the wild night out, then it won’t be fun for anyone.
Do you have any ideas we missed?? Leave a comment and let us know! Who knows, maybe we’ll do a round two of not-so traditional bachelorette party ideas for how to have a fun time in the metro DC area.

I had a cooking class at a friends home which was lovely. We had a delivered food buffet (organized by the hostess) and a dessert making class with a great pastry chef and cupcake decorating to let everyone’s creativity shine. Since it was at a home, we could accommodate lots of girls and everyone could stay for a slumber party if they had too much champagne. There are lots of chefs out there who can come out to your home and create something based on the bride’s preferences. It was a great time and I got to really spend time with my friends in a quieter setting.
If you don’t want to have to venture as far as Baltimore, Old Town Alexandria-based Petal’s Edge has been offering “flower parties” for non-traditional bachlorette parties, birthdays, and other events for the past 8 years.
