We may have all things Americana on the brain this week, but we’re throwing a little something green your way for a change today! Shamrock green that is. Kimberly and Patrick infused their Virginia wedding with all things Irish, celebrating Patrick’s heritage and Kimberly’s favorite color. I really love the use of a bold and vibrant wedding hue, and when it has special meaning behind it, that’s even better! It goes without saying that this duo had a blast on their wedding day, right from their very first look, so I’ll just let Katelyn James’ photos of the day show you instead! And don’t forget to come back later for the reception, too.
From Kimberly: Once we got engaged we knew we were going to have an Irish themed wedding with Shamrock green as our main color. It is my favorite color. Not to mention if I was going to be a Fogarty there had to be Irish uniqueness to the weekend so it was perfect. I also knew I wanted orchids as one of my main flowers so it just was seamless to incorporate the purple into the wedding mix.
My favorite memory of the day was when Patrick and I did the “first look” right outside the church before the ceremony. I was able to see how nervous Patrick was before he saw me for the first time in my wedding dress. After our moment of tears and hugs of excitement, he got down on one knee again and gave me a wedding gift of an claddagh ring (a traditional Irish ring given as a token of friendship, love, or marriage) and reminded me of what I mean to him and what this ring symbolizes now that I will be a Fogarty.
The most meaningful thing from the wedding was that my brother, Seth, my role model and best friend married Patrick and I. It was both emotional and entertaining to say the least.
