We’re so lucky to live in an area with all sorts of spectacular views! DC, Maryland and Virginia all have waterfronts that provide the best backdrop for your ceremony and the best scenery to complement your reception dinner. I’ve rounded up five fantastic wedding locations in the DC area that allow you to wed overlooking the water, or right on it!
We all know Georgetown is famous for it’s stunning waterfront, and if you’d like your guests to enjoy that spectacular view for the evening check out Sequoia. Soaring ceilings and food as good as it’s sites, this is a great option for weddings large and small! Check out Ashely and Wikes’ beautifully classic Georgetown wedding at Sequoia to get you started!
Yards Park is a relatively new waterfront wedding venue option in Washington DC. Situated south of Capitol Hill and east of Nats Park (Reel in those baseball loving grooms with that one!), it’s wedding options include a boardwalk, canal, river overlook, gardens, and a great lawn. How’s that for possibilities!? Combine several spaces for larger, more dynamic events or choose one for your intimate affair.
If you want a totally unique wedding space on the water, head to Alexandria and the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Situated right on the Potomac and, yes, it is a former factory, the three story event space is surrounded by art studios, bold colors and modern fixtures. Your guests (You can have over 400 of them!) won’t no where to look first, at the galleries inside or the river views just out the door!
Baltimore Museum of Industry
I have a feeling all you non-traditional couples looking for an urban, waterfront property will quickly be saying “I do” to the Baltimore Museum of Industry. Venues don’t get more distinct than this, just check out the recent real Baltimore wedding we featured if you don’t believe me!
Woodlawn Farm boasts water views, sprawling lawns and beautiful gardens on it’s Southern Maryland property. You can say “I do” steps away from the water, enjoy a photo-op on the dock and host a tented reception just as close! You have the option of three ceremony and three reception locations and, guess what? They are all on the water! Another bonus, you and your guests can stay right there on the property for a true weekend-long celebration. Here’s Jennifer and Brandon’s Woodlawn Farm wedding in Maryland to get you inspired!
What do you think? Will you get married near the water?!
