Stylish Classic Wedding in Washington DC: Deirdre + Kevin
February 1, 2012 Tabitha

Deirdre and Kevin’s wedding from Cassidy DuHon Photography is the perfect mix of unique personal style and classic glamour.  Deirdre worked with a local seamstress to create a beautiful long sleeve wedding gown, complemented by the most adorable blusher veil.  Instead of choosing a particular style or theme for their wedding, Deirdre and Kevin focused on throwing a fabulous party filled with amazing food, drinks, and lots of dancing including a group rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody!

From Deirdre: We didn’t have a particular style in mind for our wedding.  After seven years together, Kevin and I just wanted to throw a great party to celebrate our love with family and friends.

I fell in love with a discontinued wedding gown and nothing else would do.  I found an exceptionally talented local dressmaker, Angie Cavallaro, who recreated the gown perfectly!

Our top priorities were the photography and catering.  Neither of us like taking pictures but Cassidy made us feel comfortable and look glamorous.  Kevin is a chef so the food and booze had to be the best.

I made all of the invitations, ceremony programs, table numbers, and escort cards with the help of my bridesmaids.  Craft parties with my bridesmaids were a fun part of the wedding planning process for me.

Our favorite memory (after getting married, of course) was Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody at the reception.  Everyone flocked to the dance floor to sing along when the song began.  Then my dad went up to the balcony overlooking the Rotunda and conducted the crowd!  It was an incredible moment.

Deirdre’s advice to other DC-area couples:

Have a long engagement and enjoy planning your wedding.  Giving yourself more time to get things done will cut down on your stress level.  Plus, the time goes by so fast anyway.

The following Washington, DC area wedding professionals contributed to Deirdre + Kevin’s wedding:

Reception Venue: Carnegie Institution for Science
Ceremony Venue: Holy Trinity Catholic Church
Catering: Main Event Caterers

DJ: DJ PGee
Wedding Dress: Angie Cavallaro
Makeup: Nikki S. Fraser

Angie does incredible work! I worked with her for my alterations, which were minor, but she was so nice and did a fantastic job!

Thank you, Ann! A local wholesaler made the bouquets for me as a favor. Any florist can recreate them for you using baby’s breath, spray roses, lisianthus, and anemones. Cheers!
