Inspiration: Donuts
January 26, 2012 admin

Call them donuts or doughnuts, either way they these yummy, glazed goodies are a winner in my book.  A sweet that’s accepted as dessert and breakfast?  Sign me up!  Recently, couples have been embracing donuts at their weddings left and right, both instead of and in addition to the traditional cake. Donut holes make great drink garnishes and perfect “morning after” favors for guests to enjoy.  And those regular old (fabulous) donuts?  They make quite the cake and look almost too good to eat when decked out in their sprinkles and frostings on a dessert bar.  Lucky for us, we even have our very own donut truck, Carpe Donut, right in the DC area!  And, we even have macaroons shaped like donuts from Windows! Yum!

I wanted Carpe Donut SO bad for our wedding, but he was booked up! I thought it was just the cutest idea, especially for our fall wedding when it was cooler. Donuts just seemed like the perfect comfort food at that point.

I was just going to do a round up of some of my favorite doughnuts too! Thanks for introducing us to Carpe Donuts though. There can never be enough doughnut options in the area, In my opinion. 🙂

Carpe Donut is from Charlottesville and every time I’ve seen the truck in a blog post about a DC area wedding, I’ve been floored. I couldn’t fathom that they’d drive the truck 2-3 hours for a gig.

Now I understand. They must have a 2nd truck up in DC now. 🙂
