What better a way to start your day (literally) with a surprise wedding proposal? Well, that’s exactly what Aaron did when he decided the time was right to propose to Jill! Just after 5 a.m., Aaron woke her up and they set out for what was soon to be the most romantic morning of their relationship, with Brian Tropiano in tow to capture it all. We’ll let Aaron recall the rest, and first, a little back story…
From Aaron: “Back in June, I was staying at Jill’s house and she woke me up at about 4:30 in the morning, told me to throw on a sweatshirt and jeans, and took me out to her car where she blindfolded me before I got in. She then drove from her house in Rockville to a dock in Old Town Alexandria, right next to Founders’ Park, where we watched the sun rise, drank champagne, and reveled in new love. It was such a special moment, and from then on I knew EXACTLY where I would propose to her.”
“I woke Jill up at 5:20 in the morning and told her to get ready; that I had a surprise adventure for her. She was so adorable and enthusiastic, got ready, and I blindfolded her and took off down George Washington Parkway. My heart raced while I drove, and she cried as I played some of her favorite songs, and some that have been meaningful to us. When we got to Alexandria, I had to drive around for a little while, because in my excitement I had left too early, and was afraid that we would be sitting around for so long before the sun came up. When the time was right, I parked, led Jill back out onto our dock, and unveiled her eyes to reveal probably the most beautiful sunrise either of us have ever seen. I had brought stuff for mimosas, we watched the sun rise, and I read to her a brilliant CS Lewis passage from ‘Mere Christianity’ about marriage.”
“When the time was right, I asked her to stand up with me, told her how much I loved her, and then got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She cried. I cried. And then, she said YES! We celebrated for some minutes down at the end of that pier, and then Jill realized that Brian was there capturing it all.”
“After the dust settled from the proposal, I told her that I had an outfit for her to change into, and we had Brian do an engagement shoot for us right then and there! It was perfect. We were able to completely capture the elation we were both feeling, and have these immediate pictures to remember the occasion when both of our lives changed. It truly was the most perfect moment. I know it’s the beginning of the most blessed life with my dream girl.”
Wow! What a way to wake up! Congratulations Aaron and Jill!
