Earlier this summer, I was sitting at home when one of my oldest friends came over to go to the beach. She casually says, “Here, this is for you. Sorry it took me so long to get it to you!” She hands me a box and inside was my wedding invitation….hand crafted into an ornament! It was so beautiful! I couldn’t believe it. I don’t know what was more shocking: that she still had my wedding invitation from 2004, or that she gave me such a unique wedding present! She was going through some of her old files and found my invitation from my wedding in St. Michaels, MD. (That’s right, I was a DC-area bride, myself, many moons ago!) Instead of throwing it out, she sent the invitation suite to Kathleen Rogers to make a custom ornament. I was so touched! Of course, I had to have a few pretty pictures taken of said ornament. Michelle Lindsay was so kind to snap a few photos of the ornament and my wedding paper goods that were used to make it.
What do you think? Coolest, most unique wedding present! I absolutely can’t wait to hang this on our Christmas tree this year. These ornaments are definitely, without a doubt, going to be my go-to wedding shower (and baby shower!!) present!
If you are interested in a wedding invitation ornament, be sure to check out Kathleen’s website here. And, if you are looking for a DC-area photographer, you can see more of Michelle’s work here.

Wow – this is amazing. So clever – I LOVE this!
What a fabulous idea! And wow, do I love your wedding invitations!!
I love that idea and I am trying to imagine what my invitation would like after such a wonderful transformation!
Thanks so much for the praise, Juli. I’m so glad you liked your ornament. Keep in mind that this works well for weddings, showers christenings and graduations as well! It’s amazing, but you’d be surprised at how beautiful even the most austere invitation turns our once it’s transformed. And of course, we can always add in the colors of your wedding party to jazz it up if you like. If you heard about my website through this blog and send in an order, use the code JULI and you can get a $10.00 discount on your order!
